Laurie Marks liked thisLaurie Marks liked thisLast year at this time, I chose to stop traveling. I chose to leave my marriage of 17 years and I chose my daughter, my elderly mother and myself. With the help of Christy Cunningham VP of Sales at Vitality Living and Lori Jordan VP of OPs at GROW Your Occupancy, I took a leap to work as an independent contractor sales specialist. I worked remotely giving me courage to move, be available for a needed surgery for my Mom, be home to be involved in my daughters life, and work remotely on CRM databases for communities in Tennessee, Massachusetts, South Carolina and California. In addition, I did Sales Coaching, phone and in person mystery shops as well as Sales Director skill assessments in South Texas. In April, I had an opportunity (thanks to Julie Podewitz CEO of GROW) to speak at The Texas Assisted Living Association Conference in a break out session. I am so grateful to Julie Podewitz, Melinda Haney, Lori Jordan and Lori Vernier of GROW for giving me an opportunity to GROW this past year. They have some incredible talent helping companies fill gaps of employment, gain data to improve habits and gain census, and some amazing coaching for sales teams. If you want to schedule a meeting with Julie to learn more about more about how they can GROW Your occupancy, message me. Here I GROW again starting Monday….. 🩷🩷 🥰

Laurie Marks liked thisLaurie Marks liked thisI just started reading “Mary Kay on People Management” by Mary Kay Ash (you know her…pink Cadillac, cosmetics, and all!) and within the first few minutes, this stuck out to me… “To me, P and L doesn’t only mean profit and loss - it also means people and love.” ❤️ To me, this is a guiding principle in senior living leadership, especially sales leadership. So my question is this - what is YOUR guiding principle in the senior living space? Laurie Marks liked thisLaurie Marks liked thisJuly 1 marks my first official day as Director of Athletics at Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida. This morning, I had the opportunity to walk the campus while it was still quiet, taking in the beauty of the grounds and getting my bearings before the excitement of the new school year begins. Situated along Bayshore Boulevard and steeped in history since its founding in 1881, it’s easy to see why Academy of the Holy Names is such a special place. The campus is beautiful, the mission is inspiring, and the people have already made an incredible impression. I’m grateful for the opportunity to join this outstanding community and excited to begin building relationships with our student-athletes, coaches, families, and alumnea. Here’s to a new chapter and an incredible journey ahead. Go Jags! 🐆

Laurie Marks liked thisLaurie Marks liked thisExcited to share a little milestone! I completed the LEAD (Leadership Advancement and Development) program with Argentum and just received my certificate of completion! This experience stretched me in the best ways and gave me fresh tools to better support my teams and communities. Even as the only sales professional in my cohort, I gained so much by learning alongside incredible operational leaders from across our industry. Hearing their perspectives helped me think differently about how sales and operations can partner even more effectively to serve residents and families. I am grateful for the investment in leadership development and excited to bring these insights back to my team and communities! #LeadershipDevelopment #SeniorLiving #LEADProgram #ContinuousLearning KGH Leadership Argentum Legend Senior Living®

Laurie Marks reacted on thisThanks Katharine Ross for the shout-out! https://lnkd.in/eec2tSKRLaurie Marks reacted on thisWhat makes one community unforgettable… while others blends into the sea of sameness? That question fueled one of the most practical sessions at SLEC, moderated by Julie Podewitz with Beth Huck, Tiffany Cooey and Kris Gillen. In a market where families are overwhelmed with options, differentiation is survival. The panel dug into five ways communities can define their niche, including: ✨1 Customer experience as a differentiator ✨2 Why first impressions matter more than ever ✨3 Using SWOT strategically ✨4 Sales optimization ✨5 The evolving role of the Executive Director (only 11% of ED’s do post tour thank you calls). The communities thriving today are creating impact at every touchpoint, like Beth Huck suggests: “Greet prospects in the parking lot as they arrive for a tour” Kris Gillen went on to share the importance of ongoing sales coaching: “Even Carrie Underwood still has voice coaches… because folks at the top of their game know that there’s always something to learn and room to grow” Tiffany Cooey had a follow up suggestion that creates connection: “Executive Director meets every tour, and if they can’t be there, then they send a SalesMail .” Such an important reminder. Occupancy growth rarely comes from one “magic” tactic. It comes from alignment… when operations, sales, marketing, and leadership consistently deliver an experience people can feel. 💙 Stay tuned for more Senior Living Executive Conference takeaways so we can all serve seniors better
