For the first time in a long time, my wife Robyn was able to come work alongside me, and I was reminded pretty quickly what a natural she is when it comes to connecting with people and building relationships. She jumped right in, and honestly, it made me wonder why we don’t do this more often. We started the day at the Golden Triangle Industrial Group and later attended the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce LNG Luncheon, where we had the opportunity to connect with some incredible people. We were grateful to sit with Jane Gimler and the team from ABC Southeast Texas Chapter and enjoyed hearing the valuable insights shared by Joe Tant, Elton Hollis and Travis Woods. One of the highlights for me was seeing Jeff Hayes, which brought back a lot of great childhood memories from summers spent at the Town Club. We also had the opportunity to spend time with Mayor Charlotte Mosses and Judge Jeff Branick (Jefferson County) leaders who continue making a real impact in Southeast Texas. It was also great seeing Judy Hardy , who was recently recognized for her outstanding contributions to both BNI Beaumont and the Better Business Bureau. We’re proud to have Judy representing RMA and Meritum Consulting as we continue expanding our relationships throughout Jefferson County. And it’s always a pleasure spending time with Todd Boley , our valued partner at TMAC - Serving East & Southeast Texas , who continues creating meaningful opportunities for businesses across our region. Overall, it was a productive and meaningful day, great conversations, great people, and a reminder that strong relationships continue to open doors and create opportunities.

Tonight, I’m feeling incredibly grateful for my life, my family, my career, the company I work for, and the opportunities I’ve been given. It got me thinking about how I got here in the first place. This photo was taken over 10 years ago when I was awarded the Paul Jennings Memorial Scholarship from The Bengal Group. At the time, I was a young single mom working my way through LSU while pursuing my dream of becoming a chemical engineer. Through a flexible job at State Farm, Ken Kenelly got to know my story and encouraged me to apply for the scholarship. The Bengal Group was founded on a simple but powerful idea: pay it forward. Each year, they awarded scholarships to students, including the Paul Jennings Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of their founder and dear friend. That year, I was fortunate enough to be selected. Even today, I sometimes wonder why they chose me. But what I know for certain is that their belief in me came at a time when I needed it most. Their generosity provided more than financial support. It gave me confidence, opportunity, and the reassurance that people believed in me at a time when I was still trying to prove something to myself. The Bengal Group has not been active since 2020, but tonight I find myself reflecting on the impact they had - not just on me, but on countless others they chose to invest in over the years. Organizations come and go. Scholarships are awarded and eventually forgotten by most. But the ripple effects of generosity can last a lifetime. If there’s one lesson I’ve taken from this experience, it’s this: whenever you have the opportunity to help someone, encourage someone, mentor someone, or simply give them a chance….. do it. You never know how far that act of kindness might carry them. Thank you, Ken Kenelly . Thank you, The Bengal Group. And thank you to everyone who has paid it forward in my life.
