Today, we're sharing that Augmodo has secured an additional $21M. Just as AI is changing knowledge work, Augmodo’s physical AI is changing the future of physical work. This capital accelerates our roadmap into warehousing, auditing, maintenance, and even manufacturing, automotive, and beyond. The core thesis: picking up a box of Cheerios for an ecommerce order and picking up a wrench on a factory floor require the exact same intelligence. Both require a computer that understands a person, a hand, an object, and the 3D space around them in real time. We built that by capturing egocentric data, seeing the world seamlessly through the physical worker's eyes, to enhance and enable people. Lan Guthmann liked thisLan Guthmann liked thisA few weeks ago, I built a custom parenting coach in Claude in under 2 hours. A few people asked how. Here's the thing - The methodology is the same one I use with clients. Just pointed at bedtime meltdowns instead of positioning and messaging. Because the gap between a useful AI tool and a novelty? It's specificity. Here's what I mean: → Pick a coherent expert set, not a comprehensive one. I used two primary voices (Dr. Becky for limit-setting, Delahooke for nervous-system regulation) and two supporting. They disagree productively. Ten experts mushed together produce mush. → Synthesize, don't dump. I wrote short framework briefs per expert: core philosophy, key moves, when each voice is the right one. Plus a file on where they disagree, so the coach has a point of view instead of vibes. → The profile is the product. One file describing my son: his master trigger, what works, what backfires. This is what makes every response about him instead of parenting in general. → Design for cognitive state. I text something urgent, I get 2 sentences. Processing after bedtime, I get a scannable debrief. Open-ended question, I get the full framework. That last one matters most. Most AI tools give the same shape output regardless of what the user actually needs. And if you don't design for how someone will actually use the thing… …you've built a novelty, not a tool. This works far beyond parenting: ↳ Tough conversations at work. ↳ Coaching. ↳ Anxiety management. ↳ Financial decisions. I spend my days helping companies get specific about who they serve and what they say. The same discipline applies here. Specificity is what turns generic AI into something you actually reach for at 9pm when things are falling apart. 👉 If you built a personal AI coach, what domain would you build it for first?

Lan Guthmann liked thisOne of the more memorable moments in my career was being invited to an Amazon S-Team meeting. I still remember parts of that meeting quite vividly. It became one of those leadership-shaping moments that has stayed with me for years. In fact, it is the source of a story I often tell about the importance of asking questions, even something as simple as asking what an acronym stands for. To Jeff and the rest of the S-Team, it was probably just another meeting. For me, it was something entirely different. It was watching my heroes in action. Watching leaders ask questions, challenge assumptions, seek clarity, and make decisions. It was an opportunity to learn, grow, and see leadership up close. And, of course, the laugh. Years later, someone shared a story with me. They told me they had learned from watching me. That some of the leader they had become was shaped by meetings I didn’t remember. It caught me off guard. Most of the leaders who shaped me probably have no idea they did. Which makes me wonder how often we are shaping others without realizing it ourselves. The lessons that stay with us are not always the ones someone intended to teach. Sometimes they come from a question asked in a meeting, a conversation in a hallway, a decision made under pressure, or simply the example someone sets every day. You may never know the impact your words and actions have on someone else. Every once in a while, though, someone tells you. And when they do, it’s a gift. Grateful for the opportunity to keep learning from others, and for the occasional reminder that someone is learning from us too.

Lan Guthmann liked thisLan Guthmann liked thisWalmart posted a strong Q1 yesterday, and it's a great reminder of what a people-led, tech-powered company can do. eCommerce grew 26% globally. Marketplace grew nearly 50% in the US. Advertising grew 37%. Those are business numbers, but underneath each one is a platform a team of engineers built and keeps running every day. Faster delivery means routing and inventory systems making millions of real-time calls. Marketplace growth means the systems that onboard sellers and move their products are holding up under load. Advertising at that scale is an engineering challenge before it's a revenue line. I came over to lead Walmart's Growth Tech team in January and it's exciting to see there's even more runway ahead.
