Sahil Kathpal and I had this dumb question a few weeks ago. LLMs can use bash, call APIs, write code. Why can't one just trade for me? So we tried it. Gave Claude a brokerage API and told it to go. Predictably, it fell apart. No memory between sessions. No way to approve anything before it fires. No log of why it did what it did. It also wanted to poll prices every 30 seconds, which racks up token costs fast when you're paying by the call. We spent a couple weekends hacking on it. Added an approval gate, a trade journal that can't be edited after the fact, a price-monitoring loop that doesn't need the LLM running, and strategy files you write in markdown so you're not re-explaining your thesis every session. Named it VibeTrade because we were vibecoding the entire thing and couldn't think of anything better. First brokerage we wired up was Dhan. P J and Jay Prakash Gupta's team has the cleanest trading API I've used in India, and I've tried a few. Fast execution, readable docs, no auth pain.
