I didn't have some genius strategy mapped out. I had: - Five months of runway (terrifying) - Zero clients on day one - A belief that great work shouldn't require sacrificing your life The "secret" everyone asks about? There isn't one. It was decisions. Hundreds of them. Repeatedly choosing the hard thing over the easy thing. Hiring people who believed before we had proof. Building culture before chasing revenue. I’ve cared deeply about my community, my state, and my country. But I never felt fully at home with either major political party. If anything, I was "purple" - not red or blue. Meanwhile, my career has been built in media, marketing, and technology. Politics was never a part of the plan. But leadership, communication, and building connections between people and ideas have always been at the center of my work. That’s what made the opportunity to join the Duggan for Governor independent campaign so compelling. Mike's record of delivering results for the citizens of #Detroit and his reputation as a lifelong public servant in #Michigan spoke for itself. I saw an opportunity to help tell a different kind of story: one centered on finding consensus, embracing accountability, and putting people ahead of politics. At Duggan HQ, I found myself surrounded by some of the best political minds and operatives in the game. Veterans from both sides of the aisle welcomed me into the team, challenged my thinking, and embraced the perspective I brought from the outside. The group chemistry was truly something special and to have had the privledge of being a part of it was a gift. While the outcome wasn’t what any of us hoped for, I remain incredibly grateful for the opportunity. Michigan missed out on what I believe would have been an exceptional governor. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable chapter, including Edward Duggan, Andrea Bitely, Steven Kelly, Nina Knauf, Aysia Johnson, Maggie George, Mario Morrow Jr., MA, Adam Jewell, Aubrey Barile, David Bartek, and the entire D4M team!
