If there’s one lesson I’ll carry forward from the experience, it’s that nothing worthwhile is accomplished alone, though an (un)healthy amount of caffeine certainly helps. There are far too many people to thank individually, but two deserve special recognition. First, Surya Pathak, who believed in me before I believed in myself and helped make this journey possible. Second, my incredible wife, Kelsey, whose unwavering support and tireless efforts at home made every late night, early morning, and weekend class achievable. To everyone who crossed paths with me during this program, thank you. You made the experience richer, more meaningful, and ultimately successful. After earning my first graduate degree in the UK, I was certain I was done with school. Two years later, I enrolled in this program, which became one of the most demanding and rewarding chapters of my life; a test of resilience, patience, and balance. Early in the program, I lost my father. Halfway through, I became a first-time dad. I learned to juggle a full-time career, my studies, and the joys and responsibilities of parenthood. I couldn’t have done any of it without my amazing wife, my family, and the friends who supported me throughout; thank you. This journey taught me the power of resilience, the strength of community, and a simple truth: I love to learn. I met incredible people and made connections I’ll cherish for life. This one’s for you Dad; I know you had your heart set on a PhD, but we’ll make do with this for now.

Every year on International Women’s Day, my feed fills up with the repetitive statistics. But real progress isn’t made in a calendar reminder - it’s seen out on the pitch. As a soccer referee myself - sharing the whistle alongside my son - and as a proud father of two daughters, I look at the world through a pretty specific lens. I want my girls to see that there is absolutely no ceiling on what they can achieve. That’s why watching this World Cup has hit different. Seeing all-female referee and assistant referee crews taking charge of the biggest games on the planet hasn’t just been incredible to watch - it’s been truly gratifying. To see women commanding the pitch at the highest level of sport isn't just about representation; it's about true parity. It’s tangible proof that we are finally making an impact and that women are rightfully stepping into the highest-stakes leadership positions. That is the kind of inspiration I want my daughters to grow up seeing.
