But GOD will still be there. And if they’ve been taught to bend their knees and lift their voice to Him, they’ll never be alone. Prayer is not a ritual. It's not a bedtime routine. It's a lifeline. It’s the soul’s direct communion with the sovereign, saving, sustaining presence of GOD. If your child can talk to you, they can talk to GOD. And they must—because no one loves them more than He does, no one knows them more deeply than He does, and no one can carry them more securely than GOD can. Parents, if you fail to teach them to pray, you’re leaving them vulnerable to a world that will devour their soul. But if you teach them to pray, you’re teaching them to run to the only refuge that cannot be shaken (Psalm 46:1; Proverbs 18:10). When friends betray them, GOD will listen. When fear paralyzes them, GOD will deliver. When sin tempts them, GOD will convict. When sorrow floods them, GOD will comfort. You won't always be their protector. But you can introduce them to the One who is. So, don’t just pray for your child—teach them to pray to GOD. Show them it’s not a performance, but a relationship. Let them see you pray. Let them hear the gospel in your petitions. Let them feel the weight of their sin, and the beauty of Christ's mercy at the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). Teach them to pray now—while you still can. So when the day comes that they stand alone... they won’t. Because GOD will be with them. Not what they could do. Over the years, I’ve learned the hard way that: Skills can be taught. Systems can be learned. But attitude? Passion? Drive? That’s harder to find. So when I hire, I look for: 1) Curiosity ↳ Do they ask real questions, or just say what they think I want to hear? 2) Willingness to learn ↳ How do they react to feedback or not knowing something? 3) Resilience ↳ Ask about a failure. Do they own it, or shift the blame? 4) Honesty ↳ Are their answers real, or just overly polished? 5) Accountability ↳ Do they take responsibility for both wins and losses? 6) Energy ↳ Are they alert and engaged, or just going through the motions? 7) Team spirit ↳ How do they talk about former colleagues - credit or criticism? Skills can be trained. Caring can’t. That’s why I’ll always bet on attitude.
