From what I am seeing, a Q&A agent should 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 to answer in at least three cases: 1. 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 If the decision was made under rules that no longer apply, answering without stating that drift creates false confidence. 2. 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 When past overrides outweigh present constraints, explanations become misleading instead of helpful. 3. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 If the agent cannot clearly attribute 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘺, silence is safer than speculation. In decision systems, “no answer” is often the most responsible answer. This applies to 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, not just finance.
