Regular testing and job site check-in and check-out procedures that include a sanitizing station are key ways to keep COVID-19 and other infections out of the workplace and from spreading in the community. AMECO is working hard to provide the resources needed to keep workers healthy and sites, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized. I first began pursuing this project and partnership back in 2021, and since August 2023, I’ve been working hand in hand with Rivian on a near-daily basis. Over the past year plus, our Clayco team has partnered closely with Rivian to bring this vision to life through true collaboration. We often talk about delivering fully integrated projects with genuine alignment between client and builder — and this team embodies it. For a project of this scale to succeed, full buy-in and support from the client is essential — and we couldn’t ask for a better partner. A huge shoutout to Anthony "Tony" Sanger, CCM, FCMAA, whose vision, leadership, and steady guidance have been instrumental in steering this project and partnership forward. The alignment, energy, and shared purpose across the Clayco and Rivian teams make this adventure something truly special to be part of. On a personal note, I have been a Rivian fan long before my professional involvement. I am the proud owner of R1S #526 (after a short four-year wait… thanks, COVID 😅). Having the chance to now contribute professionally to a brand I have admired from the very beginning makes this project even more meaningful. And the best part? While this groundbreaking has been a long time coming, it is not the finish line — it is the starting line. The first panel was 50 feet tall and weighed 166,000 pounds. Combined with the 35,000 pound rigging, this was the largest crane lift of the day at 200,000+ pounds. This marks the first of over 250 panels to be erected on the bourbon distillery.
