Joseph Sequenzia reposted thisI’ve seen people from all over Connecticut have different reasons for loving our home state. MerchCT.com gives people a way to express that story, to literally wear their pride on a sleeve. With state pride at a record high since we began measuring it in 2012, the timing couldn’t be better. This store isn’t about one definition of Connecticut; it’s about giving people the freedom to show what the state means to them.Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development

This summer, and with America's 250th birthday upon us, I found myself drawn to three books that couldn't be more different. But somewhere between the history, the philosophy, and the beach read I couldn't put down, the same theme kept surfacing: how do we navigate the biggest transitions in life when the path forward isn't clear? The Greatest Sentence Ever Written by Walter Isaacson: Word by word, Isaacson unpacks the genius behind the famed sentence of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, "We hold these truths to be self-evident…" — the radical ideas behind it and why those words still matter today. He sees the country's current political polarization as its own kind of fog, and makes a compelling case that looking back to our founding words is how we find our way back to common ground. As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S., I couldn't have picked this up at a better moment. What to Make of a Life by Jim Collins: Jim has long been one of my favorite business authors, but this book is way more personal. It's a fascinating look at how we construct and reconstruct our lives after the "cliff moments" — those major transitions and setbacks we all face — and what it takes to push through, stay focused on what truly feeds us, and reconnect with our inner purpose. Told through the stories of people from a wide range of careers and disciplines, I found it deeply inspiring. Wait for Me by Amy Jo Burns: My beach read, and one I literally could not put down. As someone who loves music, especially country, this gripping novel about two country music songwriters navigating loss, betrayal, and the fight to reclaim who they are was right up my alley. It's the story of love, devotion, and friendship — and ultimately, what it takes to find yourself on the other side of the fog. Three completely different stories, but the same reminder in all of them: the fog is part of the journey. These books reminded me that what carries us through change and transition isn't luck or timing, it's our purpose, and the conviction to keep moving even when we can't see what's ahead. What are you reading this summer? I'd love to know.

The work I get to do with so many others to help improve our communities, see real results, and make a positive difference for those I serve brings me much happiness. That’s why the being recognized by the Norwalk Board of Education Coalition of Unions is very special. We share a common goal of supporting our schools and those inside the buildings. A hometown award always has a special place in my heart.

You can see those values embodied in the new Obama Presidential Center, which is designed at every turn to give back to the local community and inspire tomorrow's leaders to dream big.

Can introverts lead the way in engagement? Consider the approach of Rivers Cuomo, known for being introverted, who built an engagement process around his work. He cultivated a catalog of song snippets, testing them online to measure audience reaction. This form of A/B testing allowed him to refine his creations based on real-time feedback, bypassing traditional studio methods and focus groups. It was an honor to see him adjust to real-time feedback. This approach highlights a key insight: observing and adapting to audience response is invaluable. What strategies have you found effective for gauging and incorporating audience feedback? Would love your perspective. #EngagementStrategy #AudienceEngagement #FeedbackLoop #CreativeProcess #Adaptability
