My son Daemion Santos began working as a credit intern at S&P Global, where I have spent much of my career. Watching him walk through these familiar halls made me reflect on how quickly time has passed. It feels like only yesterday that I was holding his little hand as I walked him into grammar school on his very first day. I can still picture the excitement and nervousness on his face. I also remember cheering from the sidelines at his first Little League baseball game, watching him learn that success comes from effort, resilience, and belief in himself. Those moments felt ordinary at the time, but today I see them as the building blocks that helped shape the young man standing before me. Now, instead of carrying a backpack or baseball glove, he is carrying a laptop and learning the business of finance. Seeing him begin his career in credit, on a path similar to mine, fills me with a pride that is hard to put into words. Not because I expect him to follow in my footsteps forever, but because he is taking his own first steps into adulthood with confidence, curiosity, and determination. No matter where his career takes him, he will always be the little boy whose hand I held on his first day of school. Now, I have the honor of walking beside him in a new way—not only as his father, but also as his colleague. Thank you to S&P Global, People Partners, and the Corporate Ratings team for giving Daemion this extraordinary opportunity.
