Jonathan Dingler reposted thisI'm a firewall guy at heart, having cut my teeth in the Info Sec industry as a firewall admin, among other things. Even though I don't support Cisco Firewalls, I've followed their advance closely. I have 5 of them in my lab and I attend every single firewall training session I can. I'm surprised by this report for two reasons: 1) It happened now instead of a year or more ago 2) The competitors are so close In the last 18 months I've worked with Cisco customers who have firewalls from all the vendors in this list. The only customers who are uniformly satisfied with their firewalls are Cisco firewall customers. I was a Cisco firewall guy since the Pix 515 days. Cisco absolutely lost the NGFW game when PANW and FTNT came on the scene, and the early days of FTD were....painful. It's good to see Cisco back at the top. This report was well deserved.Jonathan Dingler reposted thisAnd we are back! Cisco is a leader in Enterprise Firewall Solutions in the latest Forester Wave! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/epaV8A_Z

Jonathan Dingler reposted thisJonathan Dingler reposted thisThere's 36643423 reasons the "internet isn't working." but the knee jerk reaction is to blame the network. Tools like traceroute, MTR, and ping have been around forever and are ESSENTIAL for network monitoring. They can be super useful for simple tasks - checking if a host is reachable - finding routes to a destination - measuring network latency In most cases, they’re good enough to perform basic tests and that’s part of the reason they are so popular. But, in 2024 - we have apps and services running in multiple clouds, and users all over the world. The ability to see across ALL parts of your network (even ones you don’t own or control) is a critical part of troubleshooting issues. Using a tool like ThousandEyes takes traceroute to the next level, letting you see into: - ISP's - Clouds - SaaS apps - Home networks Seeing the entire path helps your team get to the root of the issue faster, reducing mean time to innocence. Have you used ThousandEyes before? P.S. What's your go to monitoring tool?

Jonathan Dingler liked thisJonathan Dingler liked thisThis week I did something new, at somewhere old and, technically, somewhere blue. I started a new career path at Dell Technologies as a Security & Resilience Platforms Account Executive! What a fantastic homecoming it has been! Thank you to Doug Stevie, Ray Lipsky and the Central SRP team for your faith in me. I’m excited for this next chapter and for the chance to help our Dell Technologies customers strengthen their data protection, cyber resilience and security strategies that will keep their businesses running no matter what comes their way. Happy to bring NGA energy to SRP! Yeah, you know me!!

Jonathan Dingler liked thisJonathan Dingler liked this📡 Friday Uplink Some careers start with a decision. Mine started with a conversation I didn't know was important at the time. I was riding shotgun with David Barrios, a Senior Network Engineer, as we drove between sites doing site surveys and planning a preschool-wide router upgrade project. I was just a desktop tech then. Somewhere between stops, he gave me a piece of advice: take networking seriously — as a career path, not just a task. So I did. The first chance I got to configure and deploy switches, I jumped on it. That turned into 10+ years touching nearly every corner of the network: hospital wireless upgrades, data center migrations, a WAN spanning 300+ clinics and 20+ hospitals, running a full network and security stack at a city government, then moving into an MSSP where I managed clients' Cisco security portfolios — handling network security design, implementation, and monitoring. Cisco was the constant the whole way. Its certifications were my classroom, and the technology was the thing that just… clicked early and never stopped. Today I'm a Cisco Solutions Engineer — and somewhere along the line I realized the part I love most isn't the gear. It's being the glue. Lifting up the people around me. Working tirelessly so my customers win. So I'm kicking off a weekly series I'm calling Friday Uplink — showing up here every week with lessons from the field, the tech I'm genuinely excited about, and a little of who I am off the clock (Liverpool FC on the weekend, Star Wars UCS Lego builds slowly conquering my office, and time under a barbell). Here's my question for you: did a single piece of advice ever change the direction of your career? I'd love to hear it. #FridayUplink #Networking #Cisco #CareerJourney #Mentorship

Jonathan Dingler liked thisJonathan Dingler liked thisHeading back home after a great #CiscoLive 2026 felt like coming full circle. My first Cisco Live was 13 years ago and I remember literally sprinting from one session to the next. This week, I still found myself running (or briskly walking) to technical sessions, executive whisper suites, and product labs. There is just so much amazing content, Cisco is still relentlessly building the future. From exploring the future of AI with Cisco and NVIDIA, to discussing critical infrastructure security and quantum-resistant tech, we even had a chance to make positive social impact via Blessings in a Back Pack (blessingsinabackpack.org) fighting food insecurity. It was fantastic to meet and reconnect with so many brilliant Cisconians, the Cisco CBP, partners, customers, and of course my World Wide Technology teammates. Hilariously while running to a session I grabbed a moment with Chuck Robbins who was so gracious to take the time to chat. The energy at Cisco Live hasn't changed, though my knees definitely have I can feel a difference running those conference hallways compared to 13 years ago, I’m certainly not in my 20s anymore!
