  • In Vitro Penetration of Fuse Science Formulations through Human Skin

SUMMARY: Nine Fuse Science formulations were tested in an in vitro penetration study through human epidermis. Eight compounds were tested with the proprietary encapsulation technology and one of them was tested with a second proprietary encapsulation formulation. Radiolabels, either [14C] or [3H], were incorporated in each formulation prior to the application and used to analyze the samples. The penetration profile was assessed by collecting the receptor fluid samples at various time-points…

The penetration profile was assessed by collecting the receptor fluid samples at various time-points from the chamber below the epidermis. The selected time-points were 3 minutes, 1 hour, 2, 3.5, 5, 8, and 24 hours after the application of the formulations on the surface of the epidermal membrane. The results showed that Fuse Science’s proprietary encapsulation formulas delivered all of the compounds tested, with different physiochemical characteristics, across the epidermis at distinctive rates with unique penetration profiles.

SUMMARY: Two Fuse Science formulations were tested in an in vitro penetration study through hu-
man epidermis. The first formulation tested was with “enhanced encapsulation”. It was tested with and without occlusion. When the enhanced encapsulation formula was tested with occlusion, parafilm was applied and it was kept under occlusion during the period of the study. The second formulation tested was with “reduced encapsulation”. Radiolabel [8-“C1-caffeine was incorporated in each…

The penetration profile was assessed by collecting the receptor fluid samples at various time-points from the chamber below the epidermis. The selected time-points were 3 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours after the application of the formulations on the surface of the epidermal membrane. The results showed that Fuse Science Enhanced Encapsulation Formula delivered the most Caffeine at all time points. Occlusion of parafilm decreased the amount of caffeine penetrating across the epidermis. Fuse Science Reduced Encapsulation Formula yielded the least caffeine at the end of study period.

    Abstract

The association of low back pain with physical workload in seated workstation related jobs has been debated and remains controversial. Clinical studies eliciting the natural history of the disease in this emerging population are insufficient to make definitive conclusions. We report four consecutive cases of patients suffering from low back pain presenting to a tertiary spine clinic with severe non-specific low back pain.

Two patients as age-matched controls with persistent low back pain were followed for 6 months after receiving conventional treatment. In comparison, two test patients received parallel conventional treatment along with orthopedic full spinal supports as an additional treatment modality. Outcomes analyzed demonstrate the efficacy of orthopedic full spinal supports for treating low back pain.
