Jason Falter liked thisJason Falter liked thisThe company is hiring you to DO A JOB, not to 1 - take care of you, 2 - manage your work-life balance, and 3 -make sure you have time with your kids YOU HAVE TO MANAGE THAT WHILE DOING THE JOB I know these are hard words for many of you to accept 😔 But when you hire a plumber to fix your drain, are you concerned about: - their work-life balance, - that they are going to school, - that they prioritize your kids NO!!!! You care about if they are going to get the job done well, at the right price, and in a timely manner In fact: if you had 2x plumbers that were priced the same, had the same experience, but one said they were going to take 2-days off in the middle of the project to coach their kids volleyball team... YOU WOULD TAKE THE OTHER PLUMBER (because it would inconvenience you) ⭐ Come at me, trolls, and don't get hurt when I respond ⭐ It's a hard world out here This is why I want people to focus on HOW AWESOME THEY WOULD BE AT THE JOB when interviewing And not mention work-life balance, family or school until you've gotten the job and are knocking it out of the park (because at that point it doesn't matter) Because biases exist + You have to put yourself in the shoes of the manager And you should always be networking so you have #options if the work culture doesn't align with your requirements #quinnsights I know there are Leaders out there that care (within reason) But why take the chance? P.S. This post is for the person applying for jobs If the company is reaching out to you first, ask whatever the heck you want because you have leverage and are likely already employed elsewhere

Jason Falter reacted on thisJason Falter reacted on thisAfter years of traveling 100s of days per year as a consultant, I decided to take a break in the early 2000s. I stayed home, wrote a few books, and caught my breath. After a couple of years, I realized that I missed being in the classroom. Around that same time, I heard from Lisa Schwartz that she was starting a new company. I started working for ITSM Academy occasionally as a contract trainer teaching ITIL v2 Foundation. That led to being brought on board full-time in 2006 as Curriculum Development Manager. You can do the math. Here I am 20 years later still working hard to educate and inspire every day and still talking about Deming. 😉I love being part of this team. I am proud that we’re still standing after all these years and that we continue to have the highest quality content around. I love the relationship we have with each other, our trainers, learners, and alumni. I hope you all understand how very much I appreciate having you in my life.

Personally, I have two goals here: build trust, communicate value. Sometimes that’s a selfie. A picture of my dog. A picture of me and my son. An essay on military transformation. A discussion on AI in cyber security. Authenticity is key. Originality doesn’t matter. The longer you wait to engage on this platform because you’re worried about the judgment of others, the more opportunities you’ll miss. Would you trust a guy wearing Mickey Mouse ears?

Since high school, I've attempted to go back to school multiple times, and for all the usual reasons, I never got it done. Last year, in January, one of my co-workers was talking about an online school he was attending, and it got me thinking about giving it another go. I enrolled in July of 2025, transferred over my existing credits, put my head down, and got started. Now I can take a breath and enjoy some much-needed time off.

Love this post. This basically sums up our approach going forward "Think Enterprise. Act Enterprise". We are moving away from programs operating in silos and needing their own infrastructure, own software, own resources.. all so very wasteful. I'm proud to say that we have numerous success stories now where Army and DoD components are working together to build and consume common services. ACWS and PEO Enterprise adoption of cArmy 2.0 are prime examples. More examples coming soon from EBS-C and the Low-Code No-Code (LCNC) Center of Excellence. This will result in a far more efficient, effective and lethal force because we can spend less on back-office support and more on weapons and warfighters.
