Jasmin Jaen reposted thisJasmin Jaen reposted thisThis week, PJM President and CEO Manu Asthana returned to OPSI’s Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, to report on the very real advances PJM and its stakeholders have achieved to maintain existing generation and bring more online. That includes landmark interconnection reform, implemented in July 2023, that streamlined the process for new generators to plug into the grid, and market rule changes that better value the contribution of each generation resource to the reliability of the system when the grid needs it most. It also included significant education conducted for state and federal policymakers around these system needs. Despite those accomplishments, however, Asthana told the gathering of state and industry officials Monday, he is more worried than ever about the having enough electricity supply to serve electricity demand, or load, that is forecast to grow by leaps and bounds. Jasmin Jaen liked thisJasmin Jaen liked thisProject management is a leadership role. Period. Not an administrative function. Not coordination. Not task tracking. That misunderstanding is exactly why the profession continues to be underestimated. Project managers step into uncertainty and drive it forward. We walk into rooms where priorities are unclear and make decisions possible. We align people who disagree, yet still have to deliver together. We keep work moving when pressure, politics, and ambiguity collide. Most of this leadership never shows up on a plan: → It looks like holding tension in rooms where no one agrees. → It looks like translating vague executive direction into something a team can actually execute. → It looks like absorbing stress so others can stay focused. → It looks like leading change without authority and delivering outcomes without control. → It looks like making progress while everyone else is debating. PMs do not wait for permission to lead. We lead through influence. We lead through clarity. We lead through consistency when everything else is unstable. When project management is done right: → Teams do not burn out. → Stakeholders do not panic. → Decisions do not stall. → Momentum does not collapse. This is why strong project managers are trusted long before they are recognized. They carry responsibility without power. They manage consequences, not just plans. They hold the system together when it starts to fracture. If you think project management is about tracking tasks, you are missing the work that actually makes projects succeed. The real job is leading people, creating clarity, and moving decisions forward when everything is uncertain. Jasmin Jaen liked thisJasmin Jaen liked thisPPL President and CEO Vincent Sorgi today responded to recent calls for the PJM Interconnection to hold a special auction aimed at accelerating new, dispatchable generation. We welcome this recognition of the region’s growing generation challenges and the urgent need for new resources to ensure reliability, support large-scale data centers, and keep energy affordable for the customers we serve. Our joint venture with Blackstone Infrastructure is already laying the groundwork to build, own and operate new generation dedicated to data center load — helping reduce pressure on the grid and mitigate rising costs for others. Jasmin Jaen liked thisEarlier this week Christine Martin, President of PPL Electric Utilities, shared an insightful update, “From Reliability to Opportunity: Energy’s Role in Economic Development” during the 2026 Lehigh Valley Economic Outlook, hosted by the Lehigh Valley Chamber. Her remarks underscored a critical point: as the energy landscape evolves, collaboration with policymakers, grid operators, and business leaders is essential to ensure resilience and continued growth. From supporting local businesses and attracting new investment to ensuring long-term competitiveness across industries, energy innovation plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Lehigh Valley and beyond.Jasmin Jaen liked this“There is no doubt the Lehigh Valley has momentum. It has talent. It has a diverse and dynamic economy. Our role at PPL Electric Utilities is to build and maintain the energy system that powers that momentum — to provide the backbone on which business growth and community prosperity can thrive.” PPL Electric President Christine Martin delivered this message at the 2026 Lehigh Valley Economic Outlook event in Bethlehem Tuesday. A strong electric network is not something you always see, but it is something all of us rely on. Through strategic investments, pioneering innovation and an unwavering commitment to serve safe and reliable power, we have built a highly automated and increasingly self-healing grid to continue deliver the dependable power businesses rely on to stay competitive and productive. This energy environment presents great change and opportunity. Navigating this landscape requires teamwork, and we look forward to continuing to work with policymakers, regional grid operators and business leaders to ensure the Lehigh Valley — and communities throughout eastern and central Pennsylvania — can continue to thrive in the years ahead.
