Janko Milunovic shared thisI vibe-coded 25 websites in 2 weeks. Sent them to businesses. Followed up 3 times -> result: 0 sales. $0 revenue. This is a real Reddit post from this week. They have 4 years of UI/UX experience, can build a website in 24 hours, and genuinely doesn't understand why nobody bought. I see versions of this every day. We've spoken to 1,000+ everyday entrepreneurs. Small business owners. First-time founders. People building something on the side. The thing that kills most of them isn't the idea. It isn't the product. It isn't even execution. It's that nobody knows they exist. Here's what many people get wrong before they start: - Getting customers is not a reward for building something good. It's a separate skill, and at the beginning, it's the skill that matters most. Every business has a critical point. For most new businesses, it's simple: "Can you get in front of people who want what you're selling?" Not after you've built it. Before. What determines success is: -Can people discover you? -Can your ideal buyers find you? Because at the start, product quality is not usually what kills a business. Lack of demand does. The businesses that survive aren't always the ones with the best product. They're mostly the ones who figure out distribution first. Can your customers find you? Are you discoverable? Do they know about you and your offer? If the answer is no, it does not matter how good the idea is. Even if you built a car that runs on air :)

You still need to rewrite, reshape, and add your touch to it. In terms of uniquness, probably not there yet, as it will likely generate versions that start looking very similar to what everyone else has. But the part that fascinates me is this: if AI is already doing this today, how long before every founder raising capital shows up with a 10/10 top-notch investor deck? 6 months? A year? Some write anchor checks, some offer GP mentorship, others access to unique markets or CVCs, and others still, research/data. Oh, and splitting economics on co-invest opportunities. But given our work with families, we also thought it'd be helpful to share how FoF differ on the value they bring to their LPs. And depending on your motivations as an LP and how venture sits in your portfolio, which FoF are best for you.Janko Milunovic reacted on thisA number of family offices have asked us recently for advice on investing in VC. Nearly all start with the same question: direct into funds, or fund of funds? The better question is: what job is venture playing within your portfolio? We see four buckets: 1/ Venture beta Passive, set-it-and-forget-it exposure. Evaluate the FoF on reporting, communication, and breadth of manager coverage. 2/ Access to established managers The FoF provides diligence and GP relationships. Access matters more than batting average. It’s the magnitude of the home runs. 3/ Co-invests and direct company exposure The FoF is a path into companies, not just a portfolio. The test is scarce allocation to companies of consequence. What matters: memo quality, founder access, and SPV returns. 4/ Build the capability in-house The FoF is an apprenticeship in manager selection: watch the process, build the GP network, then go direct. Realistically, that access only comes if you're an early commit or a 5%+ check. Each of these should pick a different breed of fund of funds. Yet most FoFs get evaluated on the same generic pitch: access, track record, fees. There is also a growing middle ground for LPs who want co-invest rights, follow-ons, and direct GP relationships, but don’t want to build a $250K+ internal venture team. For them, the answer may be to remain the LP of record while outsourcing the labor, not the relationship. David Zhou and I mapped 114 pure-play venture funds of funds by their primary value prop. Half are built around access to established managers, while only one in ten makes direct company access its core offering. Working through your venture strategy? We’d be happy to compare notes.

From Cairo -> Nairobi -> Riyadh -> San Francisco -> Dubai -> Tbilisi Work over the past couple of years has been truly global. Supporting founders around the world has been the most rewarding and humbling experience. Being trusted by a founder contemplating leaving their company, another weighing an exit offer, another calling from the edge of burnout. These moments far transcend work for me. It's personal, and it's special. None of this happens without the people who built it. Ezzeddin saw potential in me far before I had earned it. Tiara showed me the ropes and shared all her knowledge, with patience and grace. Dina backed me endlessly, no matter what. PohSoon gave me the space to grow, and stayed close for when I fell. Carrie holds the fort in ways I don't always get to see, carrying the weight that allows the rest of us to just work. The phenomenal 500 Global team empowers me the same way we empower founders, every day. Grateful to keep doing this. Supporting startups and building ecosystems, one region at a time.

Not sure if I answered the question, but I gave a braindump. Copy/pasta-ing below :) (trimmed only cuz of character limit here) - Don't use superlatives. ie best, top, premium, etc. Personally discount all of it. The truly best are obvious by the have's and/or returns. None of them use top, best, etc. They don't need to. So all who do use them are assumed to be less good. It's like a drunk person telling you they're sober. No sober person needs to tell you they're sober, neither do they feel the need to defend the idea that they are. They just are. - Nothing is proprietary. Everyone has access to almost everything. YC is not proprietary. Pre-YC isn't either. Sending companies to YC isn't either still. All that matters is how fast you move and when you get conviction. And is conviction black and white or conditional. - Know your competitors. You are not alone. You're not that smart to be the only one with this idea. - Be clear on what was intentional, what was accidental. Your life story cannot possibly be one that you planned out every single moment. If you truly did, I expect an insane amount of intentionality with everything you do. And most GPs don't live up to the standard of the latter. - No one cares how many events you host, how big your community is. All communities are redundant. It's not about who you know or how many people you know. It's about who trusts what you know. Prove that last one through hard evidence. - Are your best days ahead of you or behind you? How can you show me they're ahead of you? - Know your weaknesses. "Being too honest" or "being too likeable" doesn't count. With insanely spiky strengths, I expect extremely large dents to you as a person. Otherwise, you're likely just not that spiky. Personally have yet to meet generational talent who isn't srsly flawed in another way. The question is, are you aware of it? - Are you capital efficient? Do you know how to use your 2% mgt fees better than others can? Can you make 2% mgt fees look like 4%? - Why is this the last job you're ever going to have? Or is this another side hustle/landing pad until the next thing? - What do you do to train like a pianist practices their scales? - Lastly I'm a big believer in easter eggs. I like that for my GPs that I backed that despite them being super duper spiky (jury is still out if we need that in GPs, instead of just founders), and I love them for being really good at 1-2 very particular things, that as I talk to them, I uncover more still about what makes them even more excellent. Sometimes I find it out pre-investment, sometimes, post. Then again, if you don't have that many spiky traits/interests, better to come out swinging as opposed to hiding anything. It's a gamble in storytelling.

Like millions of parents, I sought something that could genuinely engage my child without resorting to another screen. Through conversations with parents worldwide, it became clear that this is not just an issue in India; it’s a universal parenting challenge. This realization led Siddhartha Jain me to create Wippi. In a few years, the average age of humans interacting with AI may not be 13—it could be as young as 3. The critical question is not whether children will grow up with AI, but what that initial relationship with AI will look like. This morning I had the honor of hosting Eric Ries for a fireside chat on his new book, Incorruptible: Why Good Companies Go Bad and How Great Companies Stay Great. With The Lean Startup, Eric gave founders the playbook for going from 0 to 1 and he shaped the startup world as we know it. With Incorruptible, he's writing the next blueprint: how to protect what they create. Over the past two years while he was writing a book, Eric helped me structure Cosmic into a Public Benefit Corporation — with a legal commitment to build faster and cheaper baked into our governance. That commitment, reconfirmed again and again by the families rebuilding in LA, is ultimately what's driven Cosmic to become the leading rebuilding company in the region. Hearing Eric share how proud he is to support us on the path to becoming an incorruptible company was a real privilege. We hosted the event at X& new office in El Segundo — a space where we just completed a Cosmic project featuring our new materials palettes and components. Hosting this inside our own finished work made it feel that much more special. The turnout was fantastic - so many of our clients from LA, investors, and fellow founders in the room.

Pioneers Festival is Europe's leading annual conference on science, technology and entrepreneurship, gathering more than 3,000 innovative entrepreneurs, companies and venture capital investors under one roof at the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna each year…
"Pioneers of the Balkans" is probably the biggest startup competition to ever take place in the Balkans! The program is led by the team of Pioneers Festival in Vienna on behalf of the World Bank and the European Commission. Pioneers Festival is Europe's leading annual conference on science, technology and entrepreneurship, gathering more than 3,000 innovative entrepreneurs, companies and venture capital investors under one roof at the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna each year.
"Pioneers of the Balkans" is delivered in cooperation with several partners from across the region. Belgrade Venture Forum will host the Semi-Finals on 12-14 November in Belgrade. The finalists of this unique competition will then present again on 3-4 December in Zagreb at Balkan Venture Forum.

Barnwell Bio raised $6 million in Seed funding led by Twelve Below, with participation from Max Ventures, Dorm Room Fund, Banter Capital, Planeteer Capital, AgVentures Alliance, Daybreak Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and AgLaunch Farmers. Barnwell Bio uses genetic sequencing to monitor poultry barns for early signs of disease, giving farmers advance warning of threats like avian flu before outbreaks spread and force mass culls that drive up egg and chicken prices for consumers. Founders: Michael Rhys, Casey McGinley, Jake Byrnes. Standard Nuclear raised $140 million in Series A funding led by Decisive Point, with participation from Chevron Technology Ventures, StepStone Group, XTX Ventures, and existing investors WELARA, Fundomo, Andreessen Horowitz, Washington Harbour Partners LP, and Crucible Capital. Standard Nuclear manufactures advanced nuclear fuel for next-generation reactors, serving defense, space, and industrial customers as the nation's only independent supplier not tied to a specific reactor design.
