News 8 dropped by to capture the incredible energy as campers dove into the world of Hip Hop-inspired design. This year's theme – skateparks – is in memory of Tyre Nichols of Memphis, TN, whose young life was taken in January 2023. Instructors and volunteers guided the campers on how music and lyrics are a catalyst to architecture, urban planning, and design. Thanks to our Hip Hop Beat Partners – JCJ ARCHITECTURE, Amenta Emma Architects, and Patriquin Architects, who joined us to speak to the campers. Growth. Targets hit. But nobody's measuring what they lost to get there. I see it everywhere: Leaders who can't sleep without their phone next to the bed. Teams running on caffeine and adrenaline. Relationships that exist only in the margins of a calendar. The problem isn't working hard. It's treating your body like a machine that doesn't need maintenance. Your mind like a tool that never needs rest. Your relationships like they'll wait indefinitely. They won't. Real wealth isn't what you build. It's what remains when the building stops. And what remains comes down to three things: 🏃 A body that functions → Not just showing up → Actually capable of sustaining the work 🧠 A mind that recovers → Not just pushing through → Actually able to think clearly 👥 People who matter → Not just useful contacts → Actual relationships that survive your ambition You can have the title, the results, the recognition. But if you've sacrificed these three things to get them, you haven't won. You've just borrowed time. And eventually, the bill comes. The leaders who last aren't the ones who sacrifice everything. But the beautiful truth about this industry is that the magic never stops, especially when you are surrounded by people who constantly inspire you to grow. ✨ To me, hospitality isn’t just about service; it’s about creating unforgettable, magical moments. And even after all these years, I am constantly humbled by the individuals who continue to teach, inspire, and elevate my perspective on what we do. Last week, we experienced a bucket-list milestone. We flew out to be invited guests for not one, but two days of filming for Hell’s Kitchen! 🔪🔥 Watching production and hospitality collide was nothing short of surreal. A massive, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Marino Monferrato. None of this would have been possible without you. You have gone from an industry icon we look up to, to a dear friend who feels like family.
