I met Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, at GTC in Washington DC two days ago. We explored how Syntasa has been leveraging NVIDIA technologies to solve some of the toughest data and imagery problems for clients in retail, media & entertainment, intelligence community, govt etc. What started as conversations with reporters about our open architecture approach turned into something bigger. We chose a good subject for our march Autotech Council meeting, and after this year's CES, it seems even more obvious. Our meeting on the AI Defined Vehicle will show how it's a natural next step after the Software Defined Vehicle phase that we've been in Tesla launched the Model S in 2012. Now, most carmakers have SDVs. It's time to layer on the AI in user-facing roles, and in invisible functions managing the vehicle.

India has the talent to build Nvidia. What it doesn’t have is the ecosystem. China’s Deepseek shook the AI world this year. Meanwhile, India, home to thousands of top engineers at NVIDIA, Google , and OpenAI, still struggles to produce its own global tech giants. Why? 📌 Persistent Lack of Innovation Bernstein Research calls it a decades-long mistake — India’s corporate landscape is dominated by traders and distributors, not deep-tech innovators. 📌 Brain Drain Of the top 30 IIT computer science students, 26 now live abroad. Many build companies like Nvidia — but in the U.S., not Bengaluru. 📌 Weak Research-to-Market Pipeline U.S. universities seamlessly commercialize breakthroughs. Indian universities lag far behind. 📌 Limited Financial Support Entrepreneurs say India’s government offers little meaningful funding for startups. Venture capital is concentrated and scarce compared to global standards. Yet, there are signs of hope: 🔹 VC investments jumped from $9.6B in 2022 to $13.7B in 2023. 🔹 Five unicorns emerged in 2024 vs. just two in 2023. 🔹 India is Asia-Pacific’s second-largest VC market today. India has the talent. What it lacks is an ecosystem that enables research-driven innovation, strong funding, and bold policy support.
