Harold Solomon liked thisDid you know that the upcoming Georgia Life Sciences Summit is a great opportunity for biotech/medtech startups in the Atlanta/Georgia ecosystem? You should apply to present at the "Startup Showcase" if you are a founder in the area. Link here: https://lnkd.in/ehVZnCRw They are accepting applications until July 17th for the Showcase which is sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. The program this year is focused on early-stage companies across MedTech and Therapeutics. Good chance to get in front of industry relevant investors without even leaving Atlanta. One winner will be selected to go to the NewYorkBIO / New York Stock Exchange Life Sciences Showcase on December 10th. Tagging some local startup resources for visibility. Harold Solomon liked thisHarold Solomon liked thisWe’re just over a month out from the application deadline for the Emory Entrepreneurship Clinic (7/17/26). If you’re interested in learning more or applying, check out the link below. https://lnkd.in/eSXKQ3ME In anticipation of the EEC kickoff, we’re highlighting a few stories from the previous cohort. The winner of the $10,000 pitch competition was Oratos AI, led by Karthik Ramesh and Hyunsuk Shim. Oratos AI is tackling treatment planning for glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is a highly aggressive primary brain tumor with poor prognosis despite surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, with median survival of approximately 16 months. A major barrier to improving outcomes is the inability of current clinical imaging modalities, such as MRI and CT, to accurately delineate the full extent of tumor infiltration. These techniques primarily visualize contrast-enhancing or structurally abnormal regions, but fail to capture diffuse, infiltrative tumor cells that extend beyond visible margins. As a result, treatment planning is inherently limited, often leading to undertreatment of microscopic disease. Basically, you need to target all of the cancerous tissue and not leave any behind to spread. Oratos AI is doing this via its patented treatment planning software BrIM AI. The company is scaling up its software platform to support upcoming national glioblastoma trials, as well as research workflows at Emory Healthcare and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Oratos AI is also moving toward an FDA submission for its treatment planning platform ahead of a future commercial launch. Their software currently supports surgeons, radiologists, and radiation oncologists in a research setting at Emory University.” And their work has been generously supported by the Georgia Research Alliance.

Harold Solomon liked thisHarold Solomon liked thisAfter two decades at Tech, teaching, building, serving and cheering on this remarkable community, I am ready for the next chapter. It has been a privilege to teach thousands of Yellow Jackets, advance new technologies in my lab, including pathfinding research into micromachining and liquid-cooled electric machines. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to support and grow the incredible ecosystem of over 1500 student robotics and motorsports competitors in the GT Student Competition Center. Serving as Secretary of the Faculty during the uncertainty of COVID was a profound responsibility, and I was honored to help the Institute through an unprecedented moment. Being able to participate in the incredible journey of the creation, founding and launching of the seventh college of Georgia Tech—the College of Lifetime learning—and its Strategy 2035 has been a singular rewarding experience. Thanks go to each member of my CLL family for the hours of shared efforts as we forged a new path. The colleagues, students, and partners I have worked alongside made these years deeply meaningful. Watching students carry their ideas into industry, research, and competition has been and will remain the most rewarding aspects of my time at Tech. I will always carry the spirit of a Ramblin’ Wreck with me as I move forward into my new venture, energized for the work ahead. Once a Jacket, always a Jacket.

Working with NRF to pursue our patent strategy is an important step in recognizing that proprietary AI systems and workflows are becoming a new form of intellectual property for modern firms. Great to partner with George, John McBride, and the team at Norton Rose Fulbright as we work at the frontier of how AI can transform investment decision-making in venture capital. At Decasonic, we believe the next generation of companies will reinvent with AI workflows and systems how organizations operate, how leaders make decisions, and how teams collaborate with intelligent systems. In going through this streamlined process, it's clear to me that many more startups should clarify their IP strategy. Our internally developed AI platform, RLEN, reflects that philosophy. We are building AI not to automate tasks and flourish outcomes, in collaborative ways for human and AI teammates. This enables our investors to test ideas, explore alternative perspectives, and reach deeper insights faster when navigating uncertainty. More broadly, we are seeing trailblazing work across industries and cities as leaders experiment with how AI can reshape communities, companies, and countries. Leadership with AI forever transforms. We are still in the early innings. Appreciate the partnership and collaboration from the Norton Rose Fulbright team as we continue inventing and innovating. Special shoutout to my colleague Abdul Al Ali who's listed as a co-inventor.

AI isn't just powering software. BrightAI just raised $51 million to automate inspection and other hardware-based AI capabilities. As Alexa von Tobel, co-founder of Inspired Capital put it: “So many people are so focused on the future of digital AI, but we’re excited about this new layer of AI: the physical world AI.” We are in the early innings of a series of AI-fueled innovations! https://lnkd.in/enhmafvH
