Erica Hanson reposted thisErica Hanson reposted thisWe're halfway through the year, and I realized I haven't made nearly as many angel investments as I wanted to. If you're raising your pre-seed/seed (in any industry), I'd love to meet you. I invest personally or from Next Wave NYC ($50,000 check) Some companies I invested in include Wispr Flow, Superpower, Othership, Pie, Windmill, Zo Computer, Carry, Boardy, Micro, Migrate Mate, Virtu AI, Blindspot, Goodword & many others. Comment below on what you're building!

Erica Hanson shared thisThank you Rochelle Sonnenberg and Her Tech Community for spotlighting me! It's great that you have built this community for women to connect, learn, and support each other. Being part of and leading women in tech communities has been such an important part of my career journey!Erica Hanson shared thisI'm excited to spotlight Erica Hanson for our next Woman of the Week. What originally drew you into tech, and what keeps you here? I landed in tech almost by accident - a job fair, a resume drop at Google, and a role on the AdWords team. A few pivots later, I found my place in Developer Relations, building community programs and hackathons. Twelve years in, I stay because I love watching people build what they didn’t think was possible - with a community cheering them on. What’s a piece of advice you wish more women in tech heard earlier? Join a community. Learning and building alongside other women changes everything - from confidence to opportunity. Volunteer, connect, and support others; it always comes back around. How has connection with other women shaped your career or confidence? Mentorship and friendship have carried me through every stage from unexpected recognition to layoffs. I’m grateful for women like Natalia Villalobos, Lidia De La Cruz Patricia Wei Ashley Tronson Chelo Canino and many others who showed up, shared opportunities, and reminded me I wasn’t alone. What does vulnerability look like for you in leadership or work? Admitting what I don’t know. Communities like AI Snack Club, founded by Monica Abrams, help me keep learning and stay curious. What’s something people are surprised to learn about you? I played rugby in college - and kept playing in London and Singapore as a way to make friends. Who should I spotlight next?

Erica Hanson shared thisI joined AI Snack Club as a founding member in February, mostly because I didn’t want to feel so behind with all the latest AI tools and updates. Over the last 4 months I’ve joined Claude Code workshops, vibe coding sessions, coffee meetups, and an event about “The Human Side of AI” with Goodword founder Caroline Dell and moderator Tish Dignam. My baby tagged along to every virtual workshop. Baby Gavin is ready to build. 👶 Here’s what I’ve enjoyed about this community: 🏗️ The workshops include dedicated time to break into small groups and actually build things together. It makes the learning stick. 🧃 The whole concept is "snack-sized" AI learning. It’s digestible, not overwhelming. The Slack channels are active. People share what they are building, ask real questions, and share tips. 💜 Monica Abrams, the Founder, really cares about the women in this community. She enjoys cheering people on as they build something new. The community reflects her: warm, supportive, and full of people figuring this out together. I highly recommend this community to any woman who wants to start building and get hands-on experience with a wide range of AI tools. 🔗 https://aisnackclub.com/

Erica Hanson shared thisI went to a NY Tech Week event last week and left with two Knicks Game 4 tickets. That was the craziest game I’ve ever been to. 🏀 I was at Tech Extravaganza, an awesome event hosted by Andrew Yeung and his team Maks Lepokhin & Sangavi Suresh Kumar, and came across Stanley, an AI tool that helps you grow your LinkedIn presence (li.getstanley.ai/). To enter their lottery for Knicks tickets, you had to do a 90-second podcast interview. I spoke about community building in NYC. They quickly edited the footage, put together a video, and built a draft LinkedIn post around it. It was a creative way to experience what Stanley does. Thanks again to Daniel Park, Anson Lin and the Stanley team! Also great catching up with Chris Fong, founder of the Google alumni community, at the Tech Extravangza!

Erica Hanson shared thisLast week I hosted the 5th Coffee & Career Transitions event for folks impacted by layoffs, job searching, or ready for a pivot. ☕ I’m grateful that I spoke to everyone in the room. A few stories that stood out: → Someone helped get a person they met at the January event hired. → Two attendees kept in touch and met for coffee after the event. → Someone joined Fabrik because of a recommendation from a person in this group. 💜 These moments are why I started hosting these events. Some of the connections that form here keep going long after the morning ends. Thank you to my co-hosts Frank Albanese and Benji Schwartz (co-founders of Tavern Community Coworking which is a membership-based social network with hybrid restaurant/coworking spaces) and Hex & Company UWS for providing a cool venue! Thank you to our amazing volunteers Ashley Chase & Jessica Michel!! Thanks to Airaea for sponsoring! Airaea helps leaders do the inner work to change the world. It helps them get clear on their value and open the right doors. More at: airaea.com/coaching. I haven’t scheduled the next event but you can subscribe for updates here: https://lnkd.in/gjVDKbqx

Erica Hanson reacted on thisErica Hanson reacted on thisI just got home from our third coffee meetup, and I need to confess something... Before leaving the house today, I almost convinced myself that this would be the last coffee meetup I organised. I kept thinking, Why am I spending time organising these meetups when I should be focusing on finding my next job, or doing anything else? And then the meetup started. I watched strangers become connections, and the conversations quickly turned into encouragement. People exchanged ideas, opportunities, and advice. At one point, I realized that I didn't start this community because I had all the answers. I started it because I believed no one should go through this journey alone. We'll all find our next opportunity eventually, but the relationships we build along the way might be the most important part of the journey ❤️ Thank you for coming today Kim Ngan Phan 👩💻 Layla Alvey Anita Kőri Lucas Villa Verde and everyone else that showed up today ☺️ P.S. Let me know if you would like to be added to our chat so you do not miss our next meetup. #CommunityBuilding #CareerJourney #HumanConnection #Networking #CareerGrowth #JobSearch #ProfessionalDevelopment #BuildingRelationships #SupportiveCommunity #Opportunities

You're demoing our API/ products on stage at conferences and also technical enough to build the demos. Tag who we should talk to, and if interested in the role yourself, share a link to a talk you gave/ what you've built using ElevenLabs.

California just became the first state to provide some guardrails around the development of AI "companion" chatbots. It's a good time to revisit our August piece about both the promise and limits of SB 243, and what responsible AI guardrails for children could look like. https://lnkd.in/gTA3UHUN
