The business defined strategy; tech kept the servers running. Over the years, that line has completely blurred. Today, capabilities such as Cloud, SaaS, AI, Agentic Automation, and Cybersecurity aren't simply supporting business strategy; they are increasingly shaping it. Modern organizations are all asking the same fundamental questions: * Securely automate workflows without exposing proprietary data. * Increase productivity and scale without proportionally increasing headcount. * Build and scale digital products without creating unnecessary complexity or technical debt. * Insulate critical infrastructure from emerging digital threats. These were once seen as purely technical or backend questions. Today, they are core business strategy questions in disguise. Scaling AI and automation is no longer just about the code; it’s about managing business risk, driving productivity, and delivering measurable strategic business outcomes. Because of this, modern business strategies must actively integrate these disciplines. Responsible AI adoption, robust security, and modern technology capabilities are no longer technical checkboxes - they are competitive advantages. What I've learned over my career is that technology, security, and data are no longer just departments or support functions. They are core business capabilities that directly influence growth, resilience, and competitive advantage. That's one of the reasons I'm excited to be at McLane Company, Inc. Hakan Onguc liked thisHakan Onguc liked thisWhat impeccable few days at this year's RAISE Summit in Paris, Europe's largest AI conference, bringing together around 8,000 people from across the global AI ecosystem. Thank you to Guy-Laurent Arpino and Andy Walter for an excellent discussion during From Enterprise Operator to AI Company Advisor, the executive session hosted by Vintage Investment Partners. It was a valuable opportunity to explore how the role of technology leaders is evolving as AI moves from experimentation to delivering real enterprise value. I also had the privilege of joining the panel From Chatbots to Co-Workers: Deploying Agentic AI at Scale, alongside Matthieu Caillat from AXA Group Operations, Alice GUEHENNEC from Sodexo, Arti Garg from AVEVA, Kartik Sheth from Deutsche Telekom and Sylvie OUZIEL from BlueBridge Ai. It was a rich discussion on what it really takes to move beyond pilots and embed AI responsibly, securely and at scale across the enterprise. One thing that was extremely clear was every organisation is at a different stage of its AI journey, but many of the questions we're asking are remarkably similar. Where can AI create meaningful value? How do we scale responsibly? And most importantly, how do we bring our people with us? Beyond the panel discussions, I was inspired by the energy of the start-up community and the innovators pushing the boundaries of what's possible. I particularly enjoyed hearing from Scott Wu, Cognition and seeing first-hand how AI agents and automation are rapidly evolving. The pace of innovation is extraordinary, but there was also a shared recognition that AI will only create lasting value if we apply it with purpose, responsibility and people at the centre. This is something I keep coming back to at The Adecco Group: AI transformation is fundamentally human-centred. Technology will continue to evolve, but lasting impact depends on how we build trust, strengthen AI literacy and give people the confidence to use AI responsibly, thoughtfully and with good judgement. A huge thank you to the RAISE Summit team for bringing together such an inspiring community, to my fellow panellists, and to everyone I had the opportunity to meet over the past few days. This role represents a journey that has taken me from the kitchen to the boardroom—through culinary education, restaurant operations, foodservice innovation, category leadership, and business strategy. Along the way, I've had the privilege of working with incredible organizations, talented teams, and mentors who challenged me to think bigger, lead better, and never stop learning. What I'm most proud of isn't any single product launch, customer win, or business result. It's the opportunity to help build teams, develop future leaders, and create solutions that make a meaningful impact for our customers and the consumers they serve every day. I am incredibly grateful to the leaders, teammates, customers, suppliers, and partners who have invested in me throughout my career. Your guidance, trust, and support have helped shape both the leader and person I am today. As I step into this new role, I'm energized by what lies ahead. The foodservice industry is evolving rapidly, and the opportunities to innovate, grow, and create value have never been greater. I’m grateful for everything this company has given me—the chance to work on impactful goals, the amazing colleagues who became lifelong friends, and the unwavering support for me and my family over the years. I’m shifting focus to my favorite hobbies, checking a long list of travel destinations and experiences off the bucket list, and fully mastering the art of being a "young old guy." The best part? I get to dive into this new adventure side-by-side with my amazing wife, Lisa, who just wrapped up her own incredible 28-year career in teaching.
