Grace Graham (Ford) reposted thisGrace Graham (Ford) reposted thisPandora compared their lab-grown diamond ring's carbon footprint to a pair of jeans this week. The comparison is doing more work than I think they wanted. The fashion industry, jeans included, is one of the world's larger consumer-goods carbon emitters. Levi's own lifecycle disclosure puts a single pair of 501s at ~33 kg of CO2 and ~4,000 liters of water. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation projects fashion to consume roughly a quarter of the world's remaining 2°C carbon budget by 2050. When you say your product is "comparable to making a pair of jeans," you are reaching for the most familiar consumer object you can find. Most people hear that and feel reassured. The reality is that you are putting your product in the same environmental conversation as one of the most damaging consumer goods in modern history. A natural diamond emits its carbon once. Then it sits in a drawer, on a hand, in a vault, in an heirloom box, for 50 years. 100 years. Sometimes longer. Per owner-year, the carbon comes out to a couple of kilograms. Less than most clothing in your closet emits in a year. A lab-grown diamond, priced at commodity levels, behaves the way commodities behave. People buy several. People replace them. The carbon is per purchase, and the purchases compound. Jeans get worn out and discarded. So do trends. Diamonds, when they are held, do not. Take aways: - Lifetime carbon and per-stone carbon are different numbers. The press release uses one. The actual environment uses the other. - Comparing your product's footprint to a pair of jeans is not the flex it sounds like. - Scarcity, durability, and intergenerational ownership are environmental properties. - What you keep emits less than what you replace. The most sustainable thing you can own is the thing you never have to replace. We have been quietly making that case since 1978. — Dan 💎 Natural Diamond Council

Grace Graham (Ford) reposted thisImportant update from our CEO Dan ManoGrace Graham (Ford) reposted thisOn Friday, we updated the Rapaport Price List, with some of the more meaningful adjustments concentrated in smaller-size diamonds. I want to explain why. The Rapaport Price List is meant to reflect actual market prices. It is not a forecast or a policy tool. Its job is to remain credible and useful to the market. One of the principles we work to preserve is consistency in discount levels across comparable categories of diamonds. To do that, we continuously monitor real trading levels using multiple methodologies and sources, not only RapNet, but additional market inputs as well. We also continue to anchor to New York asking-price realities, which are generally firmer than broader global prices. For some time, we have seen growing misalignment between list prices and actual trading discounts, particularly in smaller goods. That gap had become too large to ignore. This adjustment was more substantial in certain categories because the market had already moved further than the benchmark reflected. The revision did not create that gap, it corrected it. The attached images show discounts before the revision, discounts after the revision, and the delta in colors. In some 0.30 ct categories, the revision changed benchmark discounts by as much as 11%. That is the purpose of the update: to restore alignment between the benchmark and actual market discount structures. The list moved to reflect reality; it did not force reality lower. Another important step we took this week was to stop automatic price adjustments on RapNet when the Price List goes down. Sellers who had enabled automatic pricing will no longer have their prices changed automatically. Each supplier now manages pricing independently. This matters because one of the most common criticisms is that a Rapaport list revision automatically pushes the market down. It should not, and on the downside, it no longer does. My view is simple: sellers should not lower prices just because the Price List was updated. A benchmark update does not change supply or demand. It reflects the market; it does not command it. At the same time, the benchmark itself must remain honest. If discounts across categories become distorted and the list no longer reflects real market relationships, the trade loses one of its most important tools for transparency and efficient commerce. The Rapaport Price List serves both buyers and sellers. It remains one of the industry’s foundational tools for transparency and trade. Side note on transparency: the image shown here is taken from Rapaport Polaris, our new pricing analytics tool, now available to the trade. Polaris enables users to see discount movements across highly specific diamond categories and better understand market dynamics that may later be reflected in the Rapaport Price List. We will continue to invest in greater transparency and better tools for the trade. https://lnkd.in/dA5MuV5a

There are two types of aspiring SDRs. Aspiring SDR 1: Blames the market. Blames their background. Blames lack of experience. Blames “no one is hiring.” Says: “I’m not getting responses.” “My resume isn’t getting shortlisted.” Applies on Naukri/ LinkedIn Waits for HR to call. Hopes something works out. Aspiring SDR 2: Fixes their resume. Learns how SaaS sales works. Practices cold calls. Records a sample pitch. Reaches out to hiring managers directly. Follows up. Gets rejected. Improves. Tries again. Same market. Same roles. Same opportunities. Different approach. Different results. Breaking into tech sales is not luck. It’s how you play the game. You either figure it out. Or you keep waiting. You can very well get into B2B SaaS Sales on your own but if you need someone to guide you step by step, teach you, train you - check out theSDRproject.com 🚀 Amit Semwal |the SDR project

Why I like Fridays as an SDR hot take: Friday isn’t for pitching. it's for resetting the machine so Monday starts warm, not cold. Here’s my Friday routine: • review 3 calls → steal 3 lines that worked • “no-pitch touches” (bump + 1 insight, that’s it) • clean CRM (kill zombies, tag next steps) • write 10 killer first lines for Mon/Tue What I avoid: •long demos I can’t prep for •generic “just following up” •forcing meetings that fall through what are yours rituals?
