Gopal Patel liked thisGopal Patel liked thisWe let candidates use AI in our coding interviews. The job of a software engineer has changed, and the interview should too. Every strong engineer works alongside agents now. The skill that matters isn't writing code from memory, it's judgment. Knowing what to build, how to direct an agent, and when to override it. We hand candidates an agent and a real system to build on and say: "Make it work. Use AI how you see fit." A few of the things we watch for: 1. The best engineers direct agents. The weakest get directed by them. 2. Discovery is the signal. We don't tell candidates what to build.. how they orient in ambiguity tells us everything. 3. Specifying before delegating is the new green flag. Blindly shipping agent output is the new red flag. Our philosophy can be summed up in one line: Any AI usage is permitted, but understanding is always essential. We're not testing whether someone can code without help. We're testing whether they can lead when their most capable teammate is an agent. Candidates appreciate this approach. Many of the strongest candidates express that the interview process is a significant factor in their desire to join our team. Huge props to Yaakov Shaul and Trevor Lowe for leading the charge and building a robust, repeatable coding challenge engine.

Gopal Patel liked thisGopal Patel liked thisI get nostalgic on days like this. We are moving this weekend into a new, bigger office for Qualified and we are all pumped. I took some photos today on the way out to remember the moment. We aren’t going far, just moving into a full floor in the same building, but this office was a big chapter for us. Qualified started in a loft, then moved into a shoebox of an office in a building across the street from Salesforce Tower (and across the hall from 6Sense), then to our space now that has a killer view! This chapter has been special as I felt like we grew up here… We were coming out of covid, we wanted to make being at work fun, we created Qualified Studios to host virtual events, product launches, we had a live Pipeline Summit at Dreamforce, employees would bring their kids and families to work, our quarterly kickoff themes would take over the office, many onsite offsites, happy hours, laughs, speeches in the break room to celebrate wins, and just incredible memories all around. But guess what? Now, we have more space to host events in the office and invite guests, friends, and customers. I can’t wait, but I want to honor the employees that made this chapter awesome. Thank you Qualified peeps past and present. It’s you that make these hallways special and fun. Let’s go! 🔥 ps. We’re hiring!

We chatted about Alariss Global and the new wave of international companies hoping to employ US-based talent, expanding the pie for workers here, especially in light of the tens of thousands of jobs impacted by #techlayoffs. Just as one data point, developed market growth, like the US, is forecast to average 0.8% in 2023, whereas developing market growth, like India, is forecast to average 2.9%, with many far exceeding that average. That means over 3x the growth, and many jobs being created, seeking global talent! After you close a sale, just go way above and beyond to deliver value for your new customer. Do everything possible to make them wildly successful with your software. Act like you need them more than they need you. Prove the value, prove the ROI, and earn the renewal. Just do WHATEVER IT TAKES to make your customers happy. This is our customer success motto at Qualified. We’re so serious about it that our customer team led by Chief Customer Officer Dan Darcy along with Sterling Williams Anna Li, PMP Katie O'Neil Kimberly Powell Hung Truong Camille Marti and Tony Vaughn created this gigantic neon sign for our office.
