It's an absolute honor to share that this summer I started a soul-aligned role at Self-Realization Fellowship, a non-profit organization on a mission to share the yoga and meditation teachings of its founder, Paramahansa Yogananda. In 2022, I left the corporate tech world without another PR gig lined up, knowing that my health and wellbeing needed to come first. Burnout pushed me to pause, reset, and dive fully into yoga and meditation. Not long after completing my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification, I discovered Yogananda’s best-selling spiritual classic, "Autobiography of a Yogi." As the only book on Steve Job's iPad and the final gift to attendees at his funeral, Autobiography of a Yogi has helped even the greatest minds in tech come back to center and find purpose in life. Not only did this book do that for me, but also served as a bridge from the spiritual world back to the material world. Today, I'm deeply grateful to Blythe Fraser and Lauren Landress for believing in me to take on the role of PR Manager and share Yogananda's teachings on the ancient science of meditation, the art of balanced living, and the underlying unity of all spiritual traditions. Algorithms prioritize earned media placements over brand-owned content to churn out AI summaries. That means your feature in Forbes takes precedence over your company blog. 2️⃣ When it comes to "feeding" the algorithm, quantity = quality. Getting placements in 10 niche, medium-sized publications is just as important as getting 1 placement in a mainstream outlet. 3️⃣ Can't wait for earned media? You can still control your brand narrative in your press release. Take the opportunity to deviate from cookie-cutter copy and make it conversational. Perhaps consider asking and answering the questions your target customers are writing into ChatGPT... Since then, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the sharpest people in technology and communications, producing award-winning work, and partnering with founders building the future of AI, robotics, food, fintech, and beyond. VSC gave me room to grow, clients who became true partners, and work I'm proud of. You might be missing the best moments your fans have in the wild, but Wild Rye isn't 😉 A superfan rides her favourite trail, snaps a photo of the #WildRye sticker on her bike, and that's it. She's not a content creator, and doesn't think to post and tag a random Tuesday adventure on Instagram. Multiply her by a few thousand, and that's the marketing asset (+ niche customer data!) most brands never get to see. Partnering with rediem, Wild Rye gave those photos somewhere to go: a community feed, owned by the brand, where posting feels more like texting the group chat > performing for a social audience. Brand love doesn't disappear into the void. Wild Rye sees it, celebrates it, analyzes it, rewards it. Messy hair post-hike, trailhead selfies, debates over the best trail snacks, every post deepens the emotional connection, and hands Wild Rye super valuable first-party data. Personalization gets sharper, and LTV compounds from there. As AI takes over more of the discovering and recommending, this is exactly the social proof that gets weighed. Real people loving a brand in public, at scale, on-site where LLMs can index. Gen Z will tell you, scrappy content was always more convincing than the polished feed.
