Floyd Trujillo liked thisNobody told her she did a good job. Not once. In her entire life. Years ago I watched a woman at our front desk handle a difficult situation with total grace. Afterward I told her she did a great job and that I was sorry she had to deal with it. The next day she pulled me aside: “Thank you. Nobody has ever told me I did a good job.” I was stunned. Still am. 🤍 It’s one of the work stories I tell my kids the most — not because I did anything remarkable, but because I almost didn’t say anything at all. I almost kept walking. We grind through budgets, deadlines, and milestones. But when I look back, I won’t remember any of that. I’ll remember the people. Because everyone matters. Especially the ones nobody else stopped for. You don’t know what people are carrying. Say something. ❤️

What an amazing adventure being assigned for 6 years to Amylum in Europe, working across many countries and multiple teams, it was a new education every single day. After 19 years at ADM, I decided to join Tate & Lyle and again had many amazing new experiences, extraordinary opportunities working in numerous countries around the world with incredible colleagues. After 18 years at Tate & Lyle, I decided to do something more entrepreneurial and joined a start-up company, MycoTechnology, Inc., again a new and interesting experience. The absolute best part of this journey has been all of the phenomenal people I met along the way. I am truly grateful for each moment and each person who made this journey unforgettable. Thank you to all for making it an exciting ride.

I found this meaning at West Point and in the Army, but it came at a very high price for me and my family. Good men like Josh Byers, Mike Tarlavsky, Evan Ashcraft, Hector Perez, and Raheen Heighter paid even more: the last full measure. I'm fortunate because I was able to come home fully even though it took me 20 years. It's my work now to help men find their way home from their wars, and raise a new generation of men who can build instead of break.

Floyd Trujillo liked thisFloyd Trujillo liked thisThis past month, I’ve had a great time staying connected to advertising students at my alma mater, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, through the American Advertising Federation at Illinois! 💙 🧡 In early April, my mentee Julian Trujillo and I participated in an on-campus speaking event where we broke down the fundamentals of account management and gave students a peek into what the role looks like at Leo Burnett Chicago. Later that month, we also had the chance to welcome those same students to Leo as part of “Advasion,” an incredible event that brings aspiring talent to Chicago to visit top agencies. Julian and I walked them through Leo’s history, introduced them to our amazing client roster, and shared some of the work we’re most proud of. And of course, no visit is complete without some Leo swag! 🍏 We wrapped up the day at an alumni event, where we caught up with former classmates, professors, and connected with the next gen of ad professionals. Had so much fun and I can’t wait to continue my connection with the advertising program at the University!

“With spring wheat we’ve seen some upward price action, as well as more volatility than we’ve seen in a while this marketing year,” said Jim Peterson, executive director for the North Dakota Wheat Commission, adding that May Minneapolis futures were up about 40-50 cents from February, and earlier this winter, and new crop values for September were approaching $6.50 to $6.70 on the futures.
