Eric Chiyembekeza posted thisHad a conversation with Farzad Soleimani, MD, MBA, FAAEM last week that I'm still thinking about. He asked the hard questions. The ones that make you pause. GTM strategy. Why others have failed—or quietly pivoted—trying to solve the same problem. The kind of questions that force you to defend your thinking out loud. But then he did something that stuck with me even more: he opened up his network. Three founders he thought I should talk to. No ask. No strings. Just generosity. This is what I keep learning: finding the right people, in the right place, at the right time can fundamentally change what you're building. People like Farzad bring a level of experience that only comes from sitting on the other side of the table for years. They see patterns you can't see yet. You never know which conversation will end up being the one that changes your trajectory. So if (and when) you ever get the chance to sit across from someone like that—listen. Really listen. The event brought together over $1.7tr in AUM from over 20 countries!🤯 I was able to be a part of 2 amazing panels where we discussed how FOs globally are investing and differentiating. My key takeaways were the following: 1️⃣Unlike VCs, Family offices are “Founder-first” if you build conviction with them, you’re in. 2️⃣ Family offices are doubling down on frontier tech, moving out of plain Saas software, and going in on hardware. Data centers, Wellness hubs, Defence etc 3️⃣ FOs prefer simple pitches, don’t over complicate your pitch by adding unnecessary terms and wording, best case if you get the 10s of attention of the FO, get straight to the point. As a founder in the healthcare space—I’ve built AI products myself, had many conversations with potential B2B pilot clients, and spent years in payer and provider ops before any code was ever written. It can very much feel like the traction is real, but in reality it doesn’t photograph well. Healthcare sales cycles can easily stretch 6+ months and the industry moves like a glacier. The signals that matter—LOIs, pilot commitments, bills actually audited—don’t fit neatly into MRR dashboards. And yet, the founders still standing in these unsexy verticals? We’re usually solving “hair on fire” problems that look small in the grand scheme of a $4T industry but create tremendous downstream impact. I can appreciate the higher bar because it forces a certain refinement; and trial by fire has a way of separating fundable narratives from actual products. But it also creates an opportunity for investors willing to listen differently—to distinguish between a good idea and a potentially impactful product, and to find the founders who aren’t loud yet but are building something real. The shift isn’t just founders proving more. It’s investors learning to evaluate traction in markets where the signals don’t look like B2C growth curves. I appreciate you naming this. AI is the engine that can take you from *0 to 100 mph in a heartbeat.* But there’s a catch: You aren’t on a closed track. You’re on a busy street. In healthcare, "acceleration" isn’t just about growth - it’s about patient lives, data integrity, and trust. If we push the pedal to the floor without a world-class braking system, the results aren't just a business failure; they’re a safety catastrophe. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 As we build and scale AI-driven tools for providers, we have to move with extreme intentionality in three specific areas: *1. Patient Safety Above All* AI should augment clinical judgment, never replace it. Asynchronous-first telehealth models must have rigorous clinical protocols to ensure that speed never comes at the cost of diagnostic accuracy. *2. Data Sovereignty & Leak Prevention* In an era of rapid AI integration, the risk of data "leakage" into LLM training sets or unsecured clouds is a constant threat. Security means maintaining a strictly US-based, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure where patient privacy is hard-coded into the architecture. We cannot afford a single point of failure when it comes to sensitive medical records. *3. Guarding Against "Hallucinations"* When an AI summarizes a patient encounter or suggests a protocol, or when we use AI for intakes or triage, the margin for error is zero. Building tools for providers means implementing multi-layer verification to ensure the AI remains a reliable assistant, not a liability. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 AI is the most powerful tool we’ve ever had for expanding access to care. It allows us to scale provider networks and reach patients faster than ever before. Building haau3 in public #19 Progress has been slower as my attention has been elsewhere, but will likely be moving faster in the next few weeks as we move towards the March 31, 2026 MVP demo's for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services's Health Tech Ecosystem. Highlights: 1. Revamped dashboard - collapsible sidebar, tabs for switching between patients (like web browsers), performance upgrades via caching expensive FHIR queries 2. Added SMART Health Links / QR Codes for easy sharing of data with family or care team. This was already available, but only for testing with the other CMS pledgees. It's now implemented behind an authenticated session for a specific patient. Probably another few days to get it fully wired. 3. Sadly, but also happily, removed the #SMARTonFHIR flows via the g10 FHIR APIs to Epic & #CMS Blue Button as we're now preparing to support the more ideal, CMS flow to pull data via the CMS Aligned Networks. We'll be supporting IAL2 and AAL2 via one of the two CMS approved identity providers: CLEAR and/or ID.me. We'll keep the existing SMARTonFHIR functionality there for both reference and also an additional data source, potentially, as there are likely differences between the data. Which workflow changes will improve both outcomes and margins? 🤔🤝 Predictive analytics aren’t just for massive health systems and elite aggregators. Community organizations can build these capabilities with focused implementation and smart technology partnerships. The advantage: You can adapt faster than large systems. Test new approaches quickly. Scale what works without bureaucratic delays. 🌱

Physicians already do 11+ (at least depending on specialty) steps to treat one patient. Review notes. Check labs. Read images. Get prior auth. Send prescriptions. Order follow-ups. Document everything. Then some startup comes along and adds step 12. No wonder 70% of healthcare AI never gets adopted. Here's the rule: If your product adds a single step to physician workflow, you've already lost. Every healthcare tool should eliminate steps, not create them. Don't make doctors learn a new dashboard. Don't make them copy-paste data. Don't make them click 5 times for what should happen automatically. Build tools that disappear into existing workflow or don't build them at all. Simple test: Show a doctor your product. If they sigh, you failed.
