At Aeropay, we are building a pay-by-bank network, working directly with ACH, RTP, FedNow and other bank rails. The focus is simple, but not easy: faster and cheaper payments without sacrificing the experience. To help us get there, we’re hiring a Senior Product Manager, Core Payments to work closely with engineering on this layer of the system. In this role, you will be working on payment orchestration across the different banking rails, working closely with banking partners while you also need to have a keen eye for the end-to-end experience. More than 30 Jewish founders, investors, and tech leaders from across Chicago came together to enjoy kosher food, wrap Tefillin, connect with one another, and hear a few words of Torah and inspiration. To close the lunch, Daniel launched a new initiative to sponsor Tefillin for Jews across Chicago, helping more people put on their own pair and strengthen their connection to their heritage. A special thank you to Rabbi Avraham Kagan and Daniel Muller for making this incredible gathering possible and for giving me such a warm welcome on my very first visit to Chicago. Eric Hudson liked thisThe 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act passed the Senate this week, and the headline everyone is running is the limit on Wall Street buying up single-family homes. I don't want to wave that part away. It matters. Real estate is not a stock or a bond. It has a face. The buildings we invest in and manage are where real people make dinner, raise kids, and build a life. That is the whole reason we love this work, and the responsibility that comes with it. When housing is treated purely as a financial instrument, the communities we live and work in are the ones who feel it. So we read this bill the way we try to run our business: housing should be mutually beneficial. We provide quality homes at fair prices, and our residents help turn those buildings into communities. There are real, step-change improvements here, which is why support has been so broad. Does it fix the deepest causes of our supply crunch? Not yet. But we do not believe progress should wait for perfection, so we support these reforms and intend to work within them, for our goals and our investors' goals. It cleared the Senate this week and is headed back to the House before the President's desk. A lot of the coverage is chasing the "Wall Street ban" headline. We read it differently, as a small Chicago operator, not a 350-home institution. A few things we think are worth your attention: • It's a supply bill: zoning, permitting, manufactured and modular, small-dollar FHA loans, conversions. • The institutional-investor cap targets the giants (350+ single-family homes), not local operators. • It's largely reforms, pilots and rulemaking. Eric Hudson liked thisEric Hudson liked thisMasterclass in resiliency right here Aeropay In 2017, a Chicago startup set out to do one boring thing: help small businesses get paid without bleeding money to the card networks. Now in 2026 they’re moving billions of dollars a year and quietly building the rails that could…replace our credit cards?! The company is Aeropay and their story is an absolute masterclass in building fintech and in refusing fold. Let’s dive in with a high-level timeline: → Aeropay started with brick-and-mortar merchants sick of giving 3% to Visa and Mastercard on every swipe → they pivited into cannabis where card networks legally won’t touch and built compliant bank-to-bank payments when no one else would → then went after online gaming. Today that’s roughly 80% of revenue, moving billions for millions of users Three completely different verticals now running bank-to-bank payments… I’ve spent nearly a decade in payments and compliance and the cannabis move is the part I respect most. Building compliant rails for an industry locked out of the banking system is brutally hard and that’s where Aeropay formed a real moat. Respect! Aeropay runs on “pay-by-bank,” also called account-to-account (A2A). Instead of a card, money moves directly between bank accounts which eliminates interchange fees and chargebacks - HUGE headache for merchants. Gone… Historically, ACH is cheap but slow. So Aeropay went multi-rail: • ACH for low cost • RTP and FedNow for instant settlement • Request for Payment (RfP) for instant, customer-authorized pay-ins And instead of renting bank connections from Plaid, they recently built their own aggregator, Aerosync so they own the entire stack. Genius and difficult to execute. The lesson I keep coming back to: Resilient companies don’t pick one market and pray. They build a single durable capability, then aim it at whatever vertical is broken next. Aeropay didn’t pivot because they were lost. They pivoted because the technology traveled. From corner stores to billion-dollar gaming volumes. Pay-by-bank is coming for cards. Aeropay is one to watch.
