Suffolk County Community College
SUNY Suffolk is excited to announce that Johnson Controls (JCI) is renewing its funding (up to $100,000 per year for three years) for the college's HVAC/R program. As a result of their support, our students are obtaining the tools necessary to thrive in both Electric Technology and the HVAC/R industries. Funding underwrites the JCI Fellows program, which provides students with their first opportunity for real-world work as a Student Aide. What's more, it also supports the JCI Career Fair with dozens of recruiters and hundreds of students in attendance. The JCI grant also provides scholarships and awards, including the "Tools of the Trade" which recognizes students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement. The grant even includes Air Source Cold Climate Heat Pump research. This provides two students (with a 3.5 GPA or higher) a stipend of $500.00 to research the best practices in Heat Pump Installation and Annual Preventive Maintenance. We are incredibly appreciative for our partnership with JCI. Together, we are growing the industry with talented and trained technicians.
