Maintainers often have a lot on their plates, some great feature might have lower priorities but that doesn't mean they're not important! In the case of #Angular, there was one in particular we called "Unified control state change events", opened back in 2016 and which was the #1 👍 requested by the community. After a brief discussion with the core team, I went ahead and implemented it. It will be released in the next major (v18) in May and and is already available in the latest pre-release : https://lnkd.in/dpTz4dAd This here, is a great example of what as a community we can contribute to OSS projects. Dylan Hunn liked thisDylan Hunn liked thisProud to announce that on our fourth birthday @Omni raised a $120M Series C at $1.5B valuation 🙌 We started Omni to build a data platform anyone could use. Not just data teams. In March 2022, 8 months before ChatGPT's public release, we hadn't yet realized we were building the foundation for an agent native world. Over the last two years, two things have become obvious. First, natural language is the best interface we've ever had for data. It's faster, more flexible, and more accessible. We've seen a step function change in intelligence that finally unlocked doing this for real. Second, it only works with context. You can point LLM at your database and get something. It will usually be good! But it won't understand your business. Businesses evolve and grow. They are messy and nuanced. They are human. We're building the platform to shape that intelligence for data. I always eye rolled saying business intelligence. It sounds like a pipe dream when most of the work was dashboard building. But with AI it's come full circle. We can now just ask for what we want and get reliable, traceable, trusted answers - its not time series charts of revenue or support tickets, it's "Tell me three ways to improve our support responses with examples"; "Show me our top deals this quarter and why we might lose each one"; "What products are likely to bottleneck in the supply chain". Business intelligence. Thank you to the customers that have come with us on the journey. Excited to keep learning and building and improving every single week. 🚀🚀🚀

I was a Flutter Developer building a startup and working full-time. Then a few months later I got the life-changing opportunity to interview at Google. I spent the next 3 months studying 2+ hours a night, doing hundreds of practice problems because I wanted to show up and give my best regardless of the outcome. Now, here we are 5 whole years later and I’m serving developers, helping them build apps their users will love. Thank you to everyone who has supported me at Google, including my many mentors like David East, Minko Gechev, Andrew Brogdon, Frank van Puffelen and so many incredible colleagues. I’m 5 years in and we’re on to something big. No matter how long this journey lasts, I’m in it to win it. Onwards we go.

Angular Template Pipeline

Led a project to rewrite Angular's old template compiler (TemplateDefinitionBuilder), replacing it with the new Template Pipeline.

Template Pipeline is a modern design based on an intermediate representation (IR), which allows us to modularly add and remove compilation phases. This separates concerns for improved maintainability and velocity, and also enables additional bundle size reductions (i.e. due to better variable optimization).

AI model progress continues to grow at crazy speed, and I think the implications are genuinely worth grappling with. I've been doing some work on security on the side and seeing what models can do is... inducing some deep thoughts. Just going to quote this new blog [1] on how Opus 4.6 discovered 22 vulnerabilities in Firefox recently: > So we tasked Claude with finding novel vulnerabilities in the current version of Firefox—bugs that by definition can’t have been reported before. We focused first on Firefox’s JavaScript engine but then expanded to other areas of the browser. The JavaScript engine was a convenient first step: it’s an independent slice of Firefox’s codebase that can be analyzed in isolation, and it’s particularly important to secure, given its wide attack surface (it processes untrusted external code when users browse the web). > After just twenty minutes of exploration, Claude Opus 4.6 reported that it had identified a Use After Free (a type of memory vulnerability that could allow attackers to overwrite data with arbitrary malicious content) in the JavaScript engine. One of our researchers validated this bug in an independent virtual machine with the latest Firefox release, then forwarded it to two other Anthropic researchers, who also validated the bug. We then filed a bug report in Bugzilla, Mozilla’s issue tracker, along with a description of the vulnerability and a proposed patch (written by Claude and validated by the reporting team) to help triage the root cause. > In the time it took us to validate and submit this first vulnerability to Firefox, Claude had already discovered fifty more unique crashing inputs. It's always interesting to revisit older analyses and see how they've played out. Back in September 2021, Crunchbase News published a piece titled "No Other Silicon Valley In Sight," noting that more and more tech startups were leaving California, driven by various factors. Fast forward to April 2026, and while the exodus from the Bay Area has certainly continued – large companies and startups alike making the leap – the core finding of that report largely holds true. We haven't seen a single, definitive "next Silicon Valley" emerge to claim the crown. Instead, what we've witnessed is a fascinating decentralization. The allure of lower operational costs, more favorable regulatory environments, and diverse talent pools has fueled the rise of multiple vibrant tech hubs across the U.S. and globally. Austin, Miami, Denver, Salt Lake City, and even established giants like New York City and Boston have seen significant growth. Silicon Valley wasn't just a place; it was a unique confluence of capital, talent, academic research, and a very specific risk-taking culture that is incredibly difficult to replicate wholesale in a single location. My take is that the very idea of a monolithic "Silicon Valley" might be evolving, rather than simply relocating. The pandemic accelerated remote and hybrid work models, proving that innovation isn't solely confined to a 50-mile radius. We're now operating in an ecosystem of interconnected tech clusters, each with its own specialties and strengths. This distributed model offers resilience and opens up opportunities for talent and founders who might not have thrived in the traditional Bay Area setup. It's less about finding the *next* single epicenter, and more about navigating a networked landscape. Given this ongoing dispersion, are we actually seeing a stronger, more resilient national tech ecosystem, or does the fragmentation dilute the unique advantages that a concentrated hub once offered? #TechTrends #StartupEcosystem https://lnkd.in/e9tMfPP4
