We talked about how presence is not accidental. It’s a choice. A choice to: - Be intentional with our time - Listen deeply - Celebrate the small, ordinary moments - Extend grace to ourselves and others What struck me in preparing this talk is how much this parallels my work as a UX Researcher. At its core, research is about being fully present with people, listening without rushing to respond, valuing small details, and creating space where voices are heard. When we do this well, whether in our professional or personal lives, we build deeper trust and stronger connections.

Summer is around the corner. ☀️🚴🏻 This is the part of the “get kids outside” dialogue that isn’t appreciated enough. Yes, I can kick my kids outside, but so many kids have devices in their pockets with 100M choices waiting to be explored. The statement on this image comes from a DM I received from a mom. Her daughter was harmed by a friend who showed her really horrible things online. Friends have always had a profound impact on us. But the potential impacts feel greater today. Growing up in the 1980s, it took effort in my small town of Bath (yes, Bath 😁) if I was going to do something to ruin my life. But today it’s different. The distance between our children and life-altering choices is narrower than it was for us. Before, it was miles away. Now it’s a tap away 📲 Too many kids are being hurt by other kids. I wonder: what specific things have you done to prepare your kids for digital risk that might come from their friends? Please share below! Let’s create an awesome list of tips. Or, if your child was impacted through a screen because of another child, what helped you most in that difficult situation? For my praying friends, here’s something you can do right away. Turn Psalm 119:37 into a prayer over each of your children: “Turn [insert name] eyes away from worthless things. Preserve [insert name] life according to your word.” Parenting with you! One thing I believe strongly: if you work in leadership, customer experience, employee experience, or culture, continuous learning is part of the job. No one stays sharp by working in isolation. These conversations matter because they bring together practitioners, leaders, and authors to compare what the research says with what is actually happening inside organizations. We explored the six tenets of exceptional employee experience: Mission, Trust, Communication, Appreciation, Support, and Growth. What made the conversation especially valuable was hearing members share real workplace examples around those six tenets, then connecting those examples back to the book. That’s the kind of learning I love most: practical, collaborative, and immediately relevant. It sparked amazing conversations afterward about learning from failures, never giving up, and living a life of destiny. Let's be real: George Washington was our country's FIRST superhero. He, along with the founders and colonists, showed incredible courage and character to forge the freedom and liberty we enjoy today. Don't wait for this to hit streaming. It is EPIC on the big screen! This past weekend, Young Washington, a project I’ve watched from its earliest stages, opened nationwide. On July 4th, it reached #2 at the box office and grossed nearly $21M over the holiday weekend. That kind of outcome reflects disciplined execution and a team committed to values driven storytelling. I connect with young Washington in a personal way. I’ve had to earn my seat at the table. That pressure continues to sharpened how I think, contribute, and lead. At Angel, I’m in an environment that expects more, and gives you the chance to rise to it. It is thrilling! In Investor Relations, I’m expanding that growth further. Next month, I’m excited to begin my Executive MBA at Brigham Young University. Learning. Building. Growing. #ANGX

Diane Bowen , MS reacted on thisDiane Bowen , MS reacted on thisOn June 17, 2026 I got laid off from my position at Paychex due to a reduction-in-force. Since then, I’ve been thinking how to word this post to say everything that I want to say - I don’t think there will ever be a perfect way to say it, so here goes nothing. Let’s face it, getting laid off always hurts on some level. Some more than others. I won’t lie – I had trouble eating, sleeping, and felt completely numb until roughly a week ago. When I was finally able to feel SOMETHING again, I was so happy because it told me I was progressing through the stages of grief and not just stuck on step 1. I loved what I did, loved the fact that I got to learn something new everyday, and most importantly, I loved working with everyone at Paychex. That’s probably what I will miss the most; and what has been supporting me, which is the people. I’m grateful for every message of support I’ve received, every text, every call, and every email just to check-in on how I’m doing. Getting laid-off and then the road of what comes after can be lonely, so I’m glad that I haven’t had to handle it by myself. What comes next? I get to proudly show-off what I learned at Paychex. In nearly three years alone there, I learned a lot from so many people of all walks of life. Not just about design itself, but beyond design – a career that I’m grateful for and gained so much experience in. I'm looking for roles that are: 💼 Product Design / UX, with a specific focus working with design systems at a medium-to-large company 📍 Fully remote preferred, open to hybrid in the Seattle-Redmond area What I’ve done and bring to the table so far: ⭐ 13+ years in product design, including Hilton, Experion, Nintendo, and Paychex ⭐ Helped maintain and contribute to the success of an agnostic design system that cascaded down to components in design kits for use by the entire organization 👥 Collaborated across 100+ developer teams, which included over 900+ developers, to grow design system adoption alone, and organizational interest continuing to grow at the time of my departure - Recording documentation for patterns and components - Designed an accessibility-first color palette for data visualization ⁃ Create fully responsive micro layout components to help project teams maintain consistency of UI and UX functionality If you hear of any roles that would be a great fit for me, comment below or send me a message.
