Dewei Guan liked thisDewei Guan liked thisNEWS | Our Salvador II BESS project is now energized and officially part of Chile’s National Electric System, beginning its initial charging and discharging operations. Located in the Atacama Region, this 20 MW / 100 MWh battery storage project builds on our existing Salvador BESS I project—both connected to the Salvador solar facility. Together, they will help store solar energy and deliver it when it’s needed most. As renewables continue to grow, storage plays a key role in keeping the grid stable, flexible, and ready for what’s next. Our San Andrés II BESS project (42 MW / 210 MWh) has also been energized earlier this year. With two additional large-scale energy storage systems, we are further expanding the role of energy storage in Chile.

Prevalon, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Power Americas and EES, has deployed more than 6 GWh of battery energy storage systems globally and holds 1.3 GW of supply contracts tied to AI and hyperscaler data centers. Nextpower said the deal is expected to extend its solar power technology platform with the integration of BESS and energy management software. Dewei Guan liked thisDewei Guan liked thisWärtsilä just put energy storage in the too-hard pile and handed half of the biz to a JV partner. This news is striking to me. Even the established players are getting squeezed. Wärtsilä has been a significant name in energy storage for years. They threw a great RE+ party. They've also deployed about 19GWh of energy storage worldwide. Yet with that many deployments, they're still struggling to turn a profit. Competition in energy storage supply is extreme right now and companies that built real volume are still getting squeezed on margin. It makes sense though. Wärtsilä already has a profitable engine business and data center customers willing to pay up for speed to power. If even bankable BESS suppliers with wide deployments like Wärtsilä can change ownership, it's more important than ever to verify who is going to uphold long-term warranties, performance guarantees, and O&M contracts. A parent guarantee is only as good as the parent's willingness to remain in the market. Luckily for owners of Wärtsilä BESS, they're still half in. The same can't be said for many other BESS suppliers. #BESS #ESS #energystorage
