McKinsey shaped how I think and work, and I'm leaving with friendships across every time zone that I'll carry far longer than any engagement. To my teams, sponsors, mentors, and clients - thank you! This place gave me more than I expected and more than I can fully articulate. I'm thrilled to be joining the team Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor have built. I spent much of my time at McKinsey helping large enterprises think through their AI strategies, and I loved that work. Agents are becoming the primary way people interact with companies, and most people's first experience of a brand will increasingly be through one. I've spent years helping companies get ready for this moment, and now I get to be inside it. Can't wait to see what we build together!

Devesh Dayal liked thisEvaluating electrical drawings for NEC (National Electric Code) compliance takes several months. It is tedious and error-prone. We automated it in a day. Here's the pipeline we used: 1. Embed: NEC codes → nomic-embed-text-v1.5 → MongoDB Atlas for storing embeddings 2. Extract: Circuit diagrams → Qwen 2.5 VL 32B → component list 3. Match + Validate: Llama 3.1 70B retrieves relevant codes, Qwen checks compliance Open-sourcing the repo soon - follow for the drop.Devesh Dayal liked thisIt’s no surprise that PG&E misses 73% of deadlines for Rule 21 interconnection projects on the grid. As part of the tender, we also removed the one-year vesting cliff on options, so almost every Notion employee had the opportunity to participate. We applied the same rules to every employee, whether you’re our most recent hire or a co-founder. Huge thanks to Sequoia and Index for doubling down on their commitment to Notion, and we’re thrilled to welcome GIC as our newest shareholder. Given our explosive growth in APAC, we couldn’t have found a better partner. Our industry has come a long way in how it thinks about employee secondaries. Personally, it’s incredibly gratifying to see our team able to participate in this way. For some of our longer-tenured employees, these tenders have helped them pay off loans or buy their first home. Israeli researchers at meta published a breakthrough work in LLM inference acceleration that slashes the number of forward passes required for LLM generation by an impressive 3-5x, while maintaining the exact same performance as traditional next-token prediction! They introduce Set Block Decoding, that accelerates generation by integrating standard next token prediction and masked token prediction within a single architecture, via a simple, flexible fine-tuning scheme. Set Block Decoding allows the model to sample multiple, not necessarily consecutive, future tokens in parallel, a key distinction from previous acceleration methods. This flexibility allows the use of advanced solvers from the discrete diffusion literature, offering significant speedups without sacrificing accuracy. SBD requires no architectural changes or extra training hyperparameters, maintains compatibility with exact KV-caching, and can be implemented by fine-tuning existing next token prediction models. https://lnkd.in/d7XmAyq7 #LLM, #LLMInference #Meta #Israel #GenAI

A lot of VCs use founder age as a proxy for how well they’ll leverage LLMs and the latest AI. In my experience, the stronger signal is how technical they are. Technical founders understand how LLMs work and can exploit them fully; non-technical founders see magic, not mechanisms.
