And I spend a lot of my time thinking about what gets in the way of good leadership… ◈ I’m fascinated by the invisible stuff. The stories we tell ourselves. The assumptions we make under pressure. The patterns we don’t even realize we’re repeating. Because those are often the things shaping our leadership, our culture, and ultimately our results. My HR role gives me the opportunity to explore those questions every day. Thankfully, those conversations don’t end when the workday does. ◈ Over the next few months, I’ll get to continue them from conference rooms to classrooms—with leaders at every stage of their journey. Debbie Leider reacted on thisDebbie Leider reacted on thisToday I turn 57 🎉🎈🎂🥂 57 is the new 40… and you never stop influencing culture. Honestly, it feels like five minutes since I walked into my first job, and I genuinely can’t believe it’s been 22 years since I started my own business. Last week, someone gave me some feedback that’s stayed with me. They said people in my team know me as a leader… but they don’t always know me. It made me realise I probably lead in the way I was taught. My generation believed leaders should be calm, resilient and have the answers. We didn’t often share our doubts or vulnerabilities. But culture changes. Leadership evolves. And so should we. The average CEO is in their late 50s, so age isn’t the barrier to great leadership. Staying curious, being authentic and continuing to grow is. So, at 57 (which I’m officially declaring is the new 40! 😉), my goal isn’t to become a different leader - it’s simply to let people see a little more of the person behind the title. After all, we never stop influencing culture, whatever our age. I’d love to hear from you… Has your leadership style changed over the years?
