The bravest thing a Proposal Team can do is say "No." Sales teams are optimists by nature. They want to chase every RFP that hits the inbox. At Jasker, we study "Resource Exhaustion." It is the silent killer of win rates. The Math is simple: If you bid on everything, you win nothing. You need a hard gate. Stop relying on gut feelings and start using a Scorecard. Before resourcing a new RFP, we suggest grading it against these 5 criteria (0-2 points each): 1. Relationship: Did we meet with the client before the RFP dropped? 2. Past Performance: Do we have a reference that matches the scope exactly? 3. Incumbent Status: Is the incumbent vulnerable? (If no, -1 point). 4. Resourcing: Do we have the Key Personnel available right now? 5. Understanding: Can we articulate the client's "Unstated Needs"? Score < 5? No Bid. Score 6-8? Proceed with Caution. Score 9-10?
