Thornton Tomasetti’s work can take us to places that most people don’t get to go, like rappelling down the side of a New York City skyscraper. Recently, a video crew from ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) gained a new perspective of engineering when they tagged along with Senior Engineer Kyle Dew of our Renewal team as he performed a façade inspection of 425 Fifth Avenue, a 55-story Midtown tower, on behalf of Highline Residential. Acrophobics may want to sit this one out.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the launch of the $5.5 billion Interborough Express (IBX) design and engineering phase. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has selected a joint venture between Jacobs and HDR to oversee this critical stage, advancing the project from planning into action. 🔹 Project Highlights: ‣ First new end-to-end rapid transit line built entirely within NYC since 1937 ‣ 19 stations along a 14-mile corridor, connecting 17 subway lines, 50 bus routes, and two LIRR stations ‣ Serving 900,000 residents and 260,000 workers across Brooklyn and Queens, dramatically reducing travel times 💬 Governor Kathy Hochul: “Building the Interborough Express will transform New York, connecting communities like never before, shortening commutes, and unleashing the full potential of Brooklyn and Queens.” The IBX is expected to deliver lasting mobility and equity benefits for New York City, with formal construction anticipated once the design process is complete. 🔗 Read more: [https://lnkd.in/gkfQMTyW] #Infrastructure #Transit #NewYork #MTA #Jacobs #HDR #Engineering
