Dave Kiss shared thisBrand new blog post and project published for Truckload, a new open source app for helping folks move their video content into (or out of) Mux Wait... out of? Yeah, you read that right. An unhappy customer stuck with Mux due to a lack of tooling or technical expertise is not a way we turn a customer into a fan, and I'm confident folks will love our products once they're onboard and this tool will be net positive for everyone Check the blog post for the full details and share with your palsDave Kiss shared thisSlow dashboards, spotty stream quality, incompatible pricing, or a frustrating developer experience - there’s a whole slew of reasons why you might be considering moving your videos to a new provider. Now, you can easily move your video content between service providers for free with Truckload 🚚 Read all about this brand new open-source tool over on the Mux blog: https://lnkd.in/eaqdxj8zMigrate your video files between video hosting services for free | MuxMigrate your video files between video hosting services for free | Mux

Dave Kiss shared thisI'm going to do something I don't often do in public: admit that I was wrong. I'd heard rumblings that Tinybird was a simple way to publish data APIs, but I didn't actually think it was going to be as easy as Cameron Archer made it sound. No way was a Mux Data integration something we could pull off in an hour flat. Creating a UGC analytics dashboard used to take days (weeks? ask me how I know). I bit my lip and pressed on anyway. Turns out… we could. And we did. Super fun convo and project, here's the link to the full episode. https://lnkd.in/drXbzJVC

Dave Kiss shared thisWhat is Developer Relations really all about? Is it actually a necessary role for companies to offer? Can you really get paid to write docs, create content, and help onboard other developers into an organization's ecosystem? Great questions. Luckily, Dan Vega is here to help guide you through the ins and outs of the role of DevRel. Dave Kiss shared thisWe're just a little over a week away from our first-ever morning edition meetup at Topgolf in Cleveland. Even if you're not much of a golfer, this one is going to be interesting. How does Topgolf handle their data at scale, track your golf shots in real time, and make it widely available to all locations across the globe? There's only one way to find out. Dave Kiss liked thisDave Kiss liked thisToday begins a new chapter in my career: Mat Leave! Having supported so many new parents through this phase at work, I'm so excited to finally be going through it myself. Only a few days in, and I can already feel the expansion beginning. More empathy, more "how on earth do people do this!", more respect and admiration for child bearers and new parents than ever. I'm in awe and so grateful for this experience. Say "hello!" to Margot, and "see ya later!" to me! :D I'm going to snuggle my heart out for a while thanks to Plaid's generous leave plan. See y'all in the fall :)

Dave Kiss reacted on thisDave Kiss reacted on this**Record Scratch** Me again, I’m back and looking for what’s next. I am trying to have some fun writing this post and it is honestly so difficult (and I’m really good at having fun). The story is the same and most of you have the same experience: another round of layoffs. I’m in the double digits on the layoff scoreboard so I’m really considering what to do next. My career isn’t feeling like it has much traction when I keep having to spin the wheels like this. I don’t have a clear next move but also maybe this is just a part of the industry and I have to live, laugh, love, and accept that. While I re-start the search for what comes next if you have someone you think would be a great connection I’m open to all introductions. If you want to just grab a cup of coffee and chat about the work I’ve been doing, I’d love to take up 30 minutes of your time.

Dave Kiss liked thisDave Kiss liked thisThis week I’m wrapping up my time at Laravel. In the past year and half I’ve had the opportunity to work with (and hire!) some incredibly talented, kind people. When I joined Laravel in November 2024 all Laravel had was a public waitlist for Laravel Cloud, 40 full-time employees and a beloved brand. Today we have thousands of paying customers, a full marketing team, and over 100 employees. I’m incredibly proud of everything we built and I personally got to experience some firsts: launching a product from zero, building out several marketing functions, and committing changes directly to our main .com (with the help of Claude, ofc). A special thanks to Taylor Otwell & Thomas Crary for their trust and support. And to the team: Ana Margarida Tavares, Haley Madsen, Emilee Spencer, Abby Gilson, Chip Needham, Tim Wilson, Josh Cirre, Leah T., Christoph Rumpel, Karlie Shields, Tilly Tokdemir, Danielle Morrill, & Nohemi. Startups are hard and you guys made it way more fun. ❣️ Onwards!

Dave Kiss liked thisDave Kiss liked thisThank you, WebExpo Conference! First time in Prague and honestly, what a trip. Love how the speaker circuit keeps delivering familiar faces to me during speakers' dinners like Oliver Schöndorfer, and also always some great new ones Tejas Kumar, Mike Kus (framing that poster right now!), Susan Lindner, Krasimir Tsonev, Brecht De Ruyte, Dave Kiss, Johannes Lehner, Julian Della Mattia, Jame C., Peter Trenkner, Robin Pokorny thanks for the lovely chats from breakfast to some seriously good late night Czech beer between nerdy talk, sports and music obsessions and general life stories, exactly the kind of thing I come to these events for. Also love how I keep meeting people from my design Slack channels IRL, like Anfisa Bogomolova. The organisation was top-notch, down to the last detail, Šárka Štrossová, Steven Wright. Thank you for making it feel so human between AI and code. You can watch my talk here: https://lnkd.in/e_Nz8SQt WebExpo put up their 2027 tickes on presale now! Great speakers like Vitaly Friedman are already announced, have a great time in Prague! https://lnkd.in/eZvkgmhs

🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲: From survey post to venue conversations in 7 days. Last week I asked what Ohio's XR community wanted from a conference. Within 24 hours: "We'd love to explore hosting this." Last Wednesday I met with a Columbus virtual production company, Mills James, using AR to bridge physical and digital experiences. Building Ohio's XR future while flying completely under the radar. That conversation showed me something important. 🚛 𝗢𝗵𝗶𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗫𝗥 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: • Virtual production studios • Healthcare XR teams • Industrial training developers • Creative agencies • Indie AR creators 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁. When they are? Ohio stops looking fragmented and starts looking like what it actually is: 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘟𝘙 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺. Silicon Valley has concentration. New York has finance pipelines. LA has entertainment infrastructure. Ohio has diversity—we just need to activate it. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿: ✓ Venue partners who see the value in hosting Ohio's XR community ✓ Sponsors who want to put Ohio on the national stage ✓ Speakers with real implementation stories ✓ Community members ready to show up This is an open invitation. If you're building XR in Ohio or want to support this—let's have a conversation. 🫵🏼 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗢𝗵𝗶𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀: Please tag or share this with someone in your network who might be interested in supporting this initiative. Comment, DM, or tag someone who should be involved. We're building this together. Big thanks to Lou Kestella for reaching out and championing our OhioXR ecosystem. #OhioXR #ExtendedReality #TechOhio #CommunityBuilding
