Daniel Andrews shared thisCongrats to Tim Lupo and team!! Some of the smartest and hardworking people out there. Another "The Playground" office co doing huge things 👀Daniel Andrews shared thisExcited to announce Deeptune has raised $43M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz. Labs and enterprises must turn model capability into real-world performance. Doing so will require distilling the entire economy into environments for AI. We believe this to be the most critical work in the pursuit of AGI. We’re a small, focused team of engineers and operators in New York. If you want to work on the hardest (and weirdest) problems of your career, we would love to hear from you.

Daniel Andrews posted thisI just hit five years of being a founder, building Playground alongside Josh Andrews and Sasha Reiss. What started as a tool to help my mom run her business has evolved into a mission to help thousands of childcare businesses across the country. The stories we hear fuel us: a director in Kansas who finally stopped working weekends to do billing, a small center that hasn't lost a single teacher since starting with Playground, and multi-site operators who are using Playground to fuel their next phase of growth. Five years in, this is just the beginning. We've grown from Josh, Sasha, and I in a WeWork to 50+ people across offices in two cities, and gone from being mistaken for a playground equipment company to partnering with some of the best and most caring childcare operators in the country. Thank you to everyone who's been a part of this journey, year six is going to be crazier than all the rest

Daniel Andrews shared thisWhat happens when you give everyone at your company Lovable credits? Over preschool winter break, everyone at Playground got to build something and compete for our first ever "Vibe Code" Award. From that, we got → AI book recommender (https://lnkd.in/e8_bEJ3Y) → Playground themed Cookie Clicker (http[s://https://lnkd.in/eNj6k9tN) → A new way to triage internal product ideas → Snack ordering portal → Automated crazy good AI Handoff notes → An allergy scanner (https://lnkd.in/ejZGvb8i) → A centralized hub for all things Playground (Cam Wilson created, See screenshot) → so, so, much more Want to build AI tools as a full time job? We're hiring!

Daniel Andrews posted thisDo you go to bed thinking about AI? Do you love building new tools with Lovable and/or AI agents? Want your full time job to be working with AI that impacts an incredibly important cause? We're hiring for a bunch of roles across the org to go deeper on AI and AI tooling to continue building a famously friendly organization. At Playground, we're working to make incredible child care accessible to all. Send an email with something you've built to daniel@tryplayground.com or comment below with a link

Daniel Andrews liked thisDaniel Andrews liked thisA few years ago, four startups shared one tiny office. Today, they’re worth a combined $500M+. Back in 2022, we'd all just raised our first rounds. None of us could justify Manhattan rent, and nobody wanted a soulless WeWork membership. So July, Playground, SOMETHINGS, and Deeptune got cozy: one lease, 3,000 sqft in SoHo, split by team size. My share was ~$2K/month. Looking back, this was one of the best decisions we had ever made. Not just because we were splitting rent, but because surrounding yourself with people like Daniel Andrews, Patrick Gilligan, and Tim Lupo has compounding returns. Sales calls happened out loud, so everyone got free trainings. Marketing experiments got debated over lunch. When one of us closed a big deal, four companies learned how. When one of us failed horribly, four companies learned why. We cheered when Playground signed their first state contract. We celebrated when SOMETHINGS announced their raise. We watched excitedly as Deeptune left the creator economy (iykyk). And we huddled around one laptop on a rainy Friday, watching SVB collapse and wondering if any of us would make payroll come Monday morning. Fast forward to today: → Playground is THE fastest growing childcare startup in the US → SOMETHINGS is revolutionizing mental health mentorship for teenagers → Deeptune was just acquired by Mercor → And July is powering largest talent agencies in the world Four companies. One room. Over half a billion dollars in combined value less than 4 years later. We didn't set out to build one of the tightest startup communities in NYC. We just couldn't afford to work alone... which ended up being the best decision we never meant to make. All of us have since grown up and moved onto our own spaces, but 424 Broadway will be marked down as one of the best possible accidental accelerators NYC has ever seen!! Should the four of us throw a commemorative happy hour soon? One comment and we do it. #nyc #startups

Daniel Andrews liked thisDaniel Andrews liked thisExcited to share that Deeptune is joining Mercor. When we started Deeptune, we believed RL environments would become the defining bottleneck for AI. Over the past two years, we've seen this play out even faster than we expected. Mercor has built the world's leading expert network for AI, making it the obvious place to continue our mission. Together, we'll build the platform that powers the next generation of AI agents. Our entire team is joining Mercor in NYC, and we'll continue building with far greater resources towards the even bigger opportunity ahead. I'm deeply grateful to our customers, investors, and everyone who helped us get here. Most of all, thank you to the Deeptune team. None of this would have been possible without you. We're just getting started.

Daniel Andrews liked thisDaniel Andrews liked thisI’ve fallen off. Since the beginning of 2024, I’ve kept a daily tracker of my linkedin growth. But because I’m competitive, I’ve added four other people to the tracker as well. Three good friends and a fourth who doesn't even know I exist 🤣. 😂 Baylor Adams (Close friend, will literally never catch up) 😅 Daniel Andrews (Close friend, thinks he can beat me, glhf) 😤 Cory Levy (Close friend, I beat him once but he’s back on top) 🥹 Marty Kausas (Doesnt know me, goated content, MOGs tf out of me) I added a mix of people to keep me motivated, but as you can see, I’ve grown soft. While folks like Marty are built different, I'm simply built regular. THAT ENDS TODAY. In honor of the best month of the year, I’ll be entering my fourth annual “post every day of July” challenge on LinkedIn. If you want founder stories, shameless plugs, home grown slop (not ai),or my honest thoughts, then I hope you follow along. Happy ✨ July ✨ folks! See you tomorrow ☺️ #july #linkedinmaxxing

Daniel Andrews liked thisDaniel Andrews liked thisAs we look for systemic change in early childhood education--everything needs to be on the table. The employee owned model is a critical space to watch. This article does a great job of narrating both the benefits and systemic barriers to the ESOP model in childcare. "In a field rife with workforce challenges, notably low compensation and poor benefits, the ESOP model offers providers an approach to building their wealth over time. But the model’s promise as a solution to the sector’s longstanding retention challenges hinges on reliable revenue — and for most childcare programs, that requires systemic change." https://lnkd.in/esWBUpwMThis Childcare Program Is 100% Employee-Owned.
