"Douglas Jackson, a service-disabled veteran who was laid off during Friday’s federal government layoffs, couldn’t believe it when he heard the vice president say the Trump administration was being forced to choose between Americans and “federal bureaucrats.” “I’m an Orlando veteran. I’m not a DC bureaucrat,” he told CNN, just days after the White House sent reduction in force — or RIF — notices to more than 3,500 federal workers. “Either they don’t know who they’re firing, or they just don’t care.” https://lnkd.in/e6wSb_V3

🚀 Ron Marrero reposted thisAmazingly, Jacklyn’s landing pad is the same size as New Shepard’s—200 feet in diameter. And yet, New Glenn’s booster is 188 feet tall with seven engines versus New Shepard’s, which is 54 feet tall with one engine. This comes down to physics—it’s easier to balance a broom on your palm rather than a pencil because the broom has a higher center of mass. You’ll also notice there’s no bridge on the Jacklyn—that’s because there aren’t any humans onboard the vessel during landing. We hope to stick the landing on our first New Glenn launch—but if we’re not successful, we’ll learn, and keep trying until we do.🚀 Ron Marrero reposted thisWelcome home, Jacklyn. 🚀 Ron Marrero reacted on this🚀 Ron Marrero reacted on thisThanks to AE alumni Kenneth Wayne Smith Junior (MS AE 2018, current PhD AE student), deputy launch director for #NewGlenn and Ron Marrero (MS CS 2022), software engineer in the New Glenn Hardware-in-the-Loop Lab, for hosting AE's Mitchell Walker at Blue Origin’s Rocket Park in Florida. We toured and got to see some behind the scenes from their cutting-edge spaceflight programs including, New Glenn, Blue Moon, New Shepard, Blue Ring, and the Orbital Reef Commercial Space Station concept. Seeing New Glenn up close highlighted the scale and complexity of modern orbital launch vehicles, along with the operational rigor behind them. The visit also highlighted Blue Origin’s nonprofit, Club for the Future and its efforts to inspire the next generation of engineers and explorers.
