The labor market is tight. Layoffs, pauses, long silences — many capable people are stuck longer than expected. If that’s you, it’s not a personal failure. It’s the cycle. Sharing a few patterns I’ve seen friends going through it. 1. Focusing on fewer roles where the fit is obvious seems to beat mass applications. 2. Conversations and warm intros still matter more than perfect resumes. 3. Separating the process from self-worth helps on days when rejection piles up. 4. Small daily momentum beats intense bursts followed by burnout. 5. People value candidates more who go out of their way to show they can do the job they are applying to. Think doing a 2-3 day sprint to write a thoughtful analysis. 6. Running a tight search process (clarity on roles of interest, spreadsheet tracker with list of potential companies, etc.) goes a long way in managing the stress. 7. Many hired a coach to seek clarity on purpose and maintain accountability 8. Most people who landed a role were shameless in asking for help. If you’re in it, you’re not behind — you’re in a tough moment. Wishing steadiness to anyone navigating it.
