Today, we’re incredibly excited to introduce our 2025 Summer Update – the biggest update in the history of AllTrails. We’re launching the products that our community wanted most, developed with our most advanced technology. For the first time in over a decade, we’re expanding our membership offering with the introduction of AllTrails Peak, our new premium plan for you to explore to the fullest. Colin Lee reacted on thisColin Lee reacted on thisEarlier this week, I was part of the 3% of employees who were impacted by a #layoff at #Workday. While these situations are never fun, I will always be grateful for the time I spent with my incredible colleagues as we worked together to design and implement an excellent Inventory product that contributes to making Workday great. In full transparency, this experience is very new and a little scary for me, as I have been fortunate thus far in my career to only look for new jobs because I wanted to, not because I had to. That said, I am going to use this time to slow down, pause, and reflect on what it is that I really enjoy so that I can find the right next role for me. I am #opentowork and would love to hear about positions within Supply Chain, Financials, Business/Functional Analysis, Quality Assurance as well as Program and Project Management. When you’re operating at the intersection of complex logistics and real-time inventory, the roadmap can quickly become a minefield of "high-priority" requests. Here are three key lessons from the front lines of enterprise product management: 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 In an OMS, "technical complexity" isn't just a dev team concern—it’s a scalability bottleneck. If the architecture can’t handle a 10x surge in API calls during peak season, your business value drops to zero. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: Treat non-functional requirements (security, latency, SOC2 compliance) as core features, not afterthoughts. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 > 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 Your Warehouse Manager cares about pick-and-pack efficiency. Your CFO cares about cost-per-order. Your Customer Success lead cares about tracking visibility. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: Alignment isn't about making everyone happy; it’s about ensuring everyone understands the trade-offs. Use a "Value vs. Complexity" matrix to visualize why certain features are deferred. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐀𝐏𝐈-𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭" 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 Enterprise systems are rarely standalone. They are part of an ecosystem (ERP, CRM, WMS). Building a rigid UI before a flexible API is a recipe for rework. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: Prioritize the "plumbing" early. A robust integration layer allows you to pivot your frontend or add third-party modules without tearing down the foundation. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞: Great product management in the enterprise space isn't about building the most features—it's about building the right foundation for growth.
