Cole Hester shared thisCole Hester shared thisToday I was one of the 13% at Meta that was let go. I give nothing but absolute thanks to everyone that I have interacted with at the company and am beyond grateful for the experiences I shared inside and outside of the data center. I grew as an analyst, leader, and person. It truly has been a special place to work. With that being said, I am now #openforwork. Please help me by sharing this post out to any recruiters that are in search of #analyst or #supplychain help!

Cole Hester liked thisCole Hester liked thisI’m honored to be recognized as a 2026 Toast Top Performer in my first full year as a District Manager. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to celebrate in Puerto Rico alongside incredibly talented teammates from across the organization. It was an amazing week of building new relationships, learning from one another, and gaining fresh perspectives. One question came up repeatedly throughout the week: “What makes a top performer?” The cliché answer is hard work and while hard work certainly matters, I've found that the real foundation is belief and trust. To my team Justin Donnelly, Cameron Morgan, Tony Messa, Nicholas Dicecca, Marina Wheeler, Dylan Woods (and the many teammates I've had the privilege of working with over the past year), thank you for trusting me, embracing change, and believing in the vision of what we're building together at Toast. To my leaders especially my RVP Carlos Diaz thank you for believing in me, giving me the opportunity to step into this role, and trusting me to help build and lead a brand new team through Toast's Strategic Markets initiative. And to the countless people who answered the late calls, responded to texts, shared advice, and offered support along the way, thank you. (To my better half for taking care of life at home, you earned this too!) Your impact is greater than you know. This recognition is a reflection of the people I've been fortunate enough to learn from and work alongside every day. I'm returning with fresh motivation, new energy, and an even greater appreciation for what makes Toast such a fantastic place to work. Excited for what's ahead, supporting the team, and growing deeper into the market even further this year! #WeAreToasters

Cole Hester liked thisCole Hester liked thisThe job posting said Product Manager, the role was actually Project Manager. Classic 2026 hiring confusion. The candidate figured it out three months in - when nobody cared about user research. Only deadlines. Here's the breakdown that would've saved them 👇 🩷 Project Manager - "Are we on track?" Executes on time, within budget. Stack: Jira, Asana, ClickUp | LLM: ChatGPT Watch out: delivery can win over impact. 💙 Program Manager — "Are teams aligned?" Connects initiatives toward one shared outcome. Stack: Notion, Airtable, Slack | LLM: Claude Watch out: complexity kills speed. 🟡 Product Manager - "Why does this matter?" Drives user value and business growth. Stack: Amplitude, Mixpanel, Productboard | LLM: Perplexity Watch out: vision over feasibility. The simplest way to remember it: Project = what gets done Program = how it connects Product = why it matters Experts worth following: → Project: Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez, Elizabeth Harrin FAPM CHA, Susanne Madsen → Program: Jean Kang, Moira Alexander, PMP, ISP, ITCP, IP3P, Bill Dow → Product: Paweł Huryn, Radhika Dutt, Melissa Perrim Wes Bush Which one are you, and does your company know the difference? 👇

Cole Hester reacted on thisCole Hester reacted on thisHello LinkedIn colleagues! I'm a bit late posting on here but wanted to share a major life update for me. After an incredible 4 years working at Illumina, I resigned from my position at the end of November in order to pursue a lifelong dream of mine: traveling around New Zealand on a yearlong working holiday visa. I've been living in the South Island for nearly 3 months now surfing, mountain biking, hiking, and WWOOFing with local families. In January I spent 4 weeks milking cows on a dairy farm and am looking forward to experiencing other career paths and lifestyles here. While I do intend to return to my engineering career one day, I am thoroughly embracing living in the present moment, learning new life skills, and experiencing all this place has to offer. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity and the 6 years of working full time as an engineer to save money and make this dream happen. One day I am confident I will use the lessons I learn here to make a positive impact on our planet and society; I'm excited to see where life takes me throughout the rest of my journey here and beyond!

When lab instruments can “speak” AI, scientists can spend less time on manual steps and more time on discovery. To make that possible, Thermo Fisher Scientific and NVIDIA are bringing together: - Thermo Fisher’s scientific instruments, lab software, and workflows and - NVIDIA’s Artificial Intelligence platform. Together, we’re building a stronger digital foundation for scientists and laboratories by connecting instruments, infrastructure, and data to AI in ways that can help improve automation, accuracy, and speed across lab operations. As model-informed drug development continues to evolve, one theme keeps emerging: the need to build confidence early—through better understanding, not just better tools. As an instructional designer, I am proud of how Simulations Plus, Inc. ensures our learning experiences are clear, effective, and immediately applicable—and I’ve seen how foundational training like this can shape how confidently scientists apply PBPK in real-world decisions. For those starting their journey in PBPK and PBBM modeling, that foundation matters. Simulations Plus is hosting the GastroPlus® PBPK Spring School, designed to help scientists move from fundamentals to practical application—grounded in real biopharmaceutics workflows. Over five days, participants will work through how to: • Build and simulate IV PBPK models • Understand the drivers of oral absorption • Develop PBBM-PBPK models for IR formulations • Create IVIVC workflows for controlled-release products • Evaluate food effects using mechanistic modeling What stands out is the focus on applied learning—connecting models to the decisions that shape development programs. If you're looking to strengthen your foundation and apply PBPK with greater confidence, this is a strong place to start. Explore the program and register here: https://lnkd.in/gqs_6Emv Great to see continued investment in building the next generation of modelers across the field. #PBPK #PBBM #Pharmacometrics #ModelingAndSimulation #DrugDevelopment #MIDD #LifeSciences #SimulationsPlus

The Brain Drain in Federal Science New data reporting from Science Magazine outlines a dramatic contraction in the federal scientific workforce during 2025. The headline number is striking—over 10,000 STEM Ph.D. holders departed federal service in a single year—but the deeper analysis reveals a more critical issue: the replacement rate. According to the report, across 14 key science agencies, there were nearly 11 departures for every 1 new hire. This indicates that the decline is driven not just by attrition, but by a functional freeze on incoming talent. For workforce planners and policy analysts, this trend line suggests a rapid "hollowing out" of mid-to-senior level technical expertise. Unlike administrative roles, STEM Ph.D. positions require highly specialized, niche skill sets that are difficult to recruit for even in ideal market conditions. The operational impact of a loss this size is multifaceted: 🔸 Regulatory Bottlenecks: Fewer experts to review complex applications (drugs, patents, environmental assessments). 🔸 Oversight Gaps: A reduction in the internal capacity to monitor and analyze scientific data. 🔸 Mentorship Vacuum: The loss of senior scientists creates a gap in training the next generation of civil servants. If this hiring imbalance persists through 2026, federal agencies risk a long-term capacity deficit that could take years to reverse, regardless of future funding levels. https://lnkd.in/gDUS2Q7V #STEM #WorkforceAnalytics #FederalGovernment #HumanCapital #SciencePolicy #Science #GovTech #LaborEconomics #PublicAdministration #Grad
