Cody Hanson posted thisIf AI creates enough value and takes away enough jobs, you can argue that some form of universal income will be required to prevent severe social and economic pain. How to achieve universal income? The government might do it, but it's pretty unlikely. One idea: create a consortium of the top AI companies (models, chips, energy infrastructure, etc). A significant portion of their equity gets allocated to a fund. Founders, investors and employees of those companies still get outsized returns from their reduced stakes due to incredibly high market caps if this plays out. Taxpaying citizens get granted shares of the fund. Real equity and monthly dividends they can use to fund their life. Everyone owns AI. Everyone benefits. Not a government or social program, which is subject to fraud, waste and abuse. Clear structure, clear rules, clear outcomes. Issues? Thoughts?

Cody Hanson shared thisI've had this idea for a goofy confessions website for years. Sedale Turbovsky told me about Polsia that agent-builds a company, not just a vibe coding tool. I tried it out last weekend and what do you know, it built it 🤷♂️ . I had to do some back and forth to fix bugs, but not much. Cost about $75 in credits. User-friendly agents are already getting real. BTW, Shame is live at tryshame.com. Confess anonymously and pay $1 to be "absolved" and see everyone else's confessions 😆

Details at su.org/epCody Hanson shared thisWhy most transformations fail: The conflict between performing and transforming. Most organizations are struggling with a massive internal conflict. On one hand, you have to perform. You have to hit results, close gaps, and grind through daily operations. On the other hand, you have to transform. You have to build new systems that might eventually make your current ones obsolete. Singularity Fellow Kyle Hermans has noticed a pattern this year. These two modes are often in total opposition. People focused on performance do not feel they have the luxury of time to reflect. People focused on transformation feel like they are being blocked by the experts of today. The breakthrough is to stop trying to transform while you perform. Instead, you must transform how you perform. Instead of measuring yourself against the metrics of the past, start measuring what great performance would look like in your future state. If you were already using AI to its full potential or serving a new customer base, what results would you be tracking? By solving for the present from the future, you give your team a bridge to cross. Cody Hanson liked thisCody Hanson liked thisTl;dr: Thrilled to finally make it to Cannes this week to produce something fun with Natalie Badillo-Griffen, throw a very off the grid party on Thursday with Foster Kamer, and to pitch some brilliantly creative and independent journalists like Liz Plank, Suzanne Kianpour Angus, Taylor Lorenz and Shira Lazar. Holler if you're in town and want to support independent creativity for real! The long version is this was a long time coming. In 2014 when I first started winning awards for my advertising work, I realized Cannes Lions was the only award that really mattered. Andrew Gorenstein and I were planning on going in 2015 to rep GMG, but I left the company just weeks before (and just months before the company would cease to be). I wound up going to Costa Rica with Kate Maxwell and John Price instead. Fast forward 5 years and now I'm running Futurism, and Phil R. was kind enough to invite me to speak on the future of media on the PHD stage. It was an enormous honor that was spoiled by a pesky pandemic starting weeks later. Last year, Brendan Gahan invited me to collab on a Cannes to VidCon cannonball run, but things were winding down at Passionfruit and we could only afford to be in Anaheim (and even that, just barely). So after a few false starts and black swan events, I'm thrilled to finally be on la plage with my favorite mentors, mentees, colleagues, clients, collaborators, and even competitors. I always considered myself a media professional, but the reality is that most of my income over the last 20 years has been a direct result of advertising & creativity. It's great to be surrounded by the world's best at it, and to be here repping a roster of brilliantly talented journalists is all I ever wanted to do since 2015. I never imagined receiving an award for philanthropy or community impact. My understanding of leadership has always been simple… help people win. My journey with Operation Smile started in 2013 with a scholarship from The Noblemen. Last week, I learned that I will also be joining the board of The Noblemen. At 31 years old, I find myself receiving an award from one organization and joining the board of another, both of which played a major role in shaping my understanding of service, leadership, and community. I never saw any of this coming. I just knew that if I ever became able, I would do my best to create opportunities for others and serve the community that invested in me. Along the way, I’ve learned something that many people who serve eventually discover: the giver often receives more than the receiver. As I walked up to accept the award, I made a last-minute decision to FaceTime my mom so she could watch the moment. Of course, she answered wearing her Prevail Foundation shirt. That moment got me. It’s hard to put into words what this past week has meant to me. I’m grateful for every person, mentor, partner, volunteer, donor, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Very thankful. Each year, a group of firefighters (both active & retired) rides the coast of California in honor of firefighters we've lost. This recognition feels particularly meaningful after recently having the privilege of speaking at the #ExecutiveProgram in #MountainView, California on a topic I’m deeply passionate about: “The Future of Finance: When #TradFi and #DeFi Disappear.” The future of finance is not simply about traditional finance versus decentralised finance. It is about the redesign of financial infrastructure itself. As #AI accelerates decision-making processes across the economy, it is exposing the limitations of today’s financial systems. The next generation of financial infrastructure will need to enable faster settlement, greater capital mobility, broader access to capital, increased transparency, lower transaction costs, and the ability to operate at the speed of intelligent systems. From our vantage point as investors at SGH Capital, we are already seeing how private markets could be transformed by these innovations. #Tokenisation has the potential to reshape #PrivateEquity by dramatically improving efficiency, enhancing transparency, shortening lengthy processes, reducing administrative friction, and lowering costs. What once took weeks could eventually happen in hours. Assets that were once illiquid could become more accessible. Entirely new models of ownership and participation may emerge. What made this experience truly special, however, was also the opportunity to engage with an extraordinary group of C-level executives and leaders from across the globe—people asking bold questions, challenging assumptions, and genuinely seeking to understand how exponential technologies will reshape their industries, organisations, and societies. At a time when the pace of change can feel overwhelming, Singularity University plays a vital role. It creates a space where leaders learn not merely to react to disruption, but to develop an #ExponentialMindset: one rooted in curiosity, optimism, responsibility, and the courage to imagine futures worth building. I left Mountain View even more convinced that the greatest risk today is not that technology evolves too quickly, but that our institutions, processes, and thinking remain linear while the world becomes exponential. Let's set aside 10 minutes for a Futures Wheel experiment. Here are some prompts to get you started: 1. Photosynthesis is engineered into human skin 2. Average human lifespan is 150 years 3. Human teleportation becomes possible and widely adopted Need a refresher on why this matters? Here's a quick example. When Steve Jobs announced the iPhone, the CEO of a chewing gum company probably wasn't thinking about their bottom line. But the widespread adoption of the smartphone tanked gum sales. Why? Because people usually buy gum while waiting in line at the checkout counter. Once everyone's eyes dropped to their phones, gum sales followed. The futures wheel trains your brain to trace the ripple effects of new technology before they catch you off guard. Try it and report back.
