Clemente Hernandez liked thisClemente Hernandez liked thisEarlier this week, I had the honor of attending the retirement and farewell celebration for my father, Dr. Maher Younan, from the Mechanical Engineering AUC. I am grateful to the Department Chair, Dr. Hanadi Salem, and the esteemed faculty members for organizing such a beautiful event. Throughout the celebration, colleagues spoke of his remarkable academic achievements and transformative contributions to AUC and the School of Sciences and Engineering. From leading the school's accreditation process to his impactful work with the ASME, his dedication helped shape the department into the highly regarded institution it is today. However, what resonated the most were the personal testimonies from his colleagues. Consistent themes about his "comforting presence" and his willingness to go the extra 100 miles to help others achieve their full potential were repeatedly mentioned. He genuinely cared for his peers. and he shared everything he had so others could build upon his success and start from where he ended. Thank you, Baba, for being such an extraordinary role model. You teach us books worth of wisdom without using words. Your commitment, selflessness, and dedication to prioritizing others are qualities that are rare in today’s world. We continue to learn from you what it truly means to be successful, influential, to leave a lasting mark and to light up the world. Even knowing what I know, working inside a health system that hosts free screenings, wellness workshops, and community events across Chicago, I still see people miss them. Not because they don't care. Because they never heard about them. That's the gap I built Haven to close. Haven is a free community health event discovery platform connecting Chicago residents to free health events hosted by FQHCs and community health organizations. For residents: one place to find free health resources near you. For organizations: a direct channel to the people you're already trying to reach. Today I'm launching Haven's founding partner cohort, a limited group of health organizations who will help shape the platform from the ground up, locked in at founding pricing permanently. AI & Data salaries in 2025: flat bases, spiky equity. Looking at our 2024 salary guide vs. what I see in the U.S. market today: Base salaries are basically flat. Not a massive difference. Equity and total comp are where the action is. Staff+ / Principal ML engineers are getting offers that spike well above $500k when equity and sign-ons are included. What this means: If you’re hiring, don’t expect to win talent on base alone, compete on mission, scope, and total comp packages. If you’re a candidate, always ask for clarity on equity refreshers.

Unpopular opinion: Most “Data Analysts” are just tool operators. Not analysts. If I remove: Excel SQL autocomplete Power BI templates ChatGPT Can you still think? Because that’s what interviews are quietly testing now. Not whether you know VLOOKUP. Not whether you can write ROW_NUMBER(). Not whether you remember CALCULATE() syntax. They’re testing: → Do you understand relationships between tables? → Can you explain why sales dropped? → Do you know which metric actually matters? → Can you challenge a stakeholder’s wrong assumption? Tools are getting easier. Thinking is not. AI can now: • Write your SQL • Generate your dashboard • Suggest DAX So the real question is: What part of your skillset is not replaceable? If your confidence comes from memorizing functions… You’re in trouble. If your confidence comes from structured problem-solving… You’re future-proof. This isn’t to scare anyone. It’s to upgrade your preparation. Because the market has changed quietly. And interviews are evolving faster than most candidates realize. Let’s debate this: Do you think tools are making analysts stronger… Or weaker? Comment Stronger or Weaker and tell me why. Let’s have an honest conversation.
