Cameron Stanford shared thisFor years my apartment had a studio instead of a living room. A big industrial worktable, printing and DJ equipment, supplies for art projects I kept meaning to get back to. It took up most of the space. It also reminded me every day of things I wasn't doing. When my boyfriend started coming over regularly, we'd end up sitting on a small area rug squeezed between my desk and a bookshelf, the closest thing I had to a living room. No couch, nowhere to really land. Someone suggested the space might work better as a living room. I wasn't ready to hear it, but it planted a seed. It took honest conversations in coaching and a letting go ritual before I could start. And then months of slowly clearing things out, reconfiguring the space, buying furniture, hanging art — the whole thing. Once I was fully on the other side, there was this unexpected sadness, not about what I'd let go of, but about how long I'd been stuck. All the years I could have had a space I loved. That feeling needed honoring too before I could let it go. Now I have a living room I love. And a looser relationship with the identities I was holding onto so tightly. That's what Spring Forward is about. It's a short, three-session coaching series for people who are ready to let go of what isn't working: a resentment, a story, an identity that's been running on autopilot. Somewhere between my second son and losing my brother my body did what it needed to do to feel safe. Protect myself with weight. Two months ago, I decided to take my body back. I didn’t do anything fancy. I just got consistent. Twenty pounds and two rings later… You better believe I sent my husband and sisters this selfie. And yes, I definitely cried.

Cameron Stanford liked thisCameron Stanford liked thisThere's an impression that coaches are not supposed to share their intuition or perspective if they are truly offering a client-led experience. The reality is that coaches should feel encouraged to share, but to consider the frame of what they share. Does the coach's framing invite the client to share their perspective in response (more client-led), or does the frame ask the client to confirm if the coach is correct or not (more directive). "To me, it sounds like you are struggling to connect with your team in a way that honors your sense of authenticity. Do I have that right?" vs. "To me, it sounds like you are struggling to connect with your team in a way that honors your sense of authenticity. That's my take, what's your take? Does the coach share their intuition as a statement of fact (expert form) or as a statement of perspective)? "When we are stuck like this, it's really saying that you need to take a moment and reflect on what value you are choosing to honor most. What value are you going to choose?" (expert form) "When my clients have been stuck in somewhat similar experiences, they tend to reflect on what personal value they will choose to honor most. How might that idea relate to your experience here?" (statement of perspective with open invitation) Coaches should embrace the use of their intuition, but should invite the client to consider their intuition for themselves through designing a frame around whatever they share. PCC Marker 4.4 is one of my favorites here: "The Coach partners with the client by inviting the client to respond in any way to the coach’s contributions and accepts the client’s response." Cameron Stanford reacted on thisAfter quite the journey over the past few years, I’m excited to share that I’ve stepped into a new role as Portfolio Operations Manager with Zeller. I’m deeply grateful for the warm welcome from my previous colleagues and for the new relationships built across the country along the way. Thank you to those who leaned into tough conversations, took the time to refer me, and trusted me with the privilege of coaching through the incredible team at Right Management. Each experience has shaped me in such meaningful ways. As I continue my International Coaching Federation program through Raven Coach Training, I look forward to carrying my coaching skills into this next chapter and applying the full breadth of my experience in this new role.
