Russell, exerted much of his influence behind the scenes — providing financial support and counsel for various leaders of the civil rights movement. A quiet, but influential civic leader, he became the first black member, and later president, of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and in 1973, he helped Maynard Jackson become Atlanta’s first Black mayor. This month, and every day, we take pride in honoring the triumphant impact and contributions of Black Americans who've made a difference in this country. Happy #BlackHistoryMonth!

Cal Fox shared thisCal Fox shared thisThis journey as an Olympic hopeful has been a tough one, it has been lonely, trying, and sometimes painful ... but I wouldn’t ask God to change anything that I’ve been through or currently am going through. I’ve wanted this dream since I was 4 years old and i saw a cheetah run across my TV screen for the first time. There have been moments along this journey that I wanted to give up and throw in the towel because of tiredness or sometimes the sacrifices I’ve had to make ... but God I asked you for this... I’ve been asking you for this since I was old enough to write and the teacher asked us “What do you want to be when you grow up” and I would always write the same thing .. an Olympian. People don’t often get to see the grit and grind that athletes go through , they only see the gold medal and smile on our faces when it’s all said and done.. but it’s never that simple.. it’s never that easy. It has been an honor to share my journey thus far with you all, I appreciate all the prayers and love that you all have been sending my way! I’m going to make the USA team, i have no choice , there is no plan B. My time is now! God give me wings 🙏

Cal Fox shared thisCal Fox shared thisToday for black history month, we honor General Benjamin O. Davis Jr., who was the commander of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen during WWII. Under his command, they had one of the lowest loss records of all the fighter groups during WWII. Later in his career, he became the first African-American general officer in the United States Air Force. In 1996, he was inducted into the International Air & Space Hall of Fame. Schools in Michigan, California, Ohio and Texas are named in his honor.
