Flew out to D.C. yesterday to join the D.C. office team, the Junior Vice Commander in Chief and other comrades to work the halls and sit in the House Rules Committee meeting for its discussion on moving the bill to the House floor this week. Travis Horn liked thisTravis Horn liked thisRepetitive head impacts, like those you receive from heading the ball, can have devastating consequences. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is linked to the cumulative effect of repeated head impacts over time, not just one hit. That's why Dr. Adam John White, Director of Brain Health at the PFA, argues that heading has no place whatsoever in youth soccer, and should be reduced in training at levels beyond that. In many countries, heading is banned before age 11 or 12. We believe that ban should extend to age 14 or even 18. It's a simple, practical step to reduce young athletes’ exposure to unnecessary risk while their brains are still developing.
