Brad Casner liked thisBrad Casner liked thisI officially crossed the threshold where I have AI write more code than I write by hand (by a wide margin). What is interesting to me is what has changed for me as a result. 1. I'm spending a lot more time doing manual testing and reviewing code, so the next optimization is to figure out how I can speed up that process. The ultimate goal is to have AI be able to manually test its own code in the browser and record a video, or be able to validate things in the database. I'm starting to create "validation agents" for every specialized agent that can double check the agent's work so that I can get better outcomes with less rework. If I can fully automate the process (dev, QA, code validation, manual testing, record a video), I can reduce the time it takes to finalize the work down to a few minutes (essentially just reviewing work). If any of you have solved this, let me know. 2. If I didn't know how to design something, I used to do some coding to figure out what to do. Now I ask AI to come up with a plan and we iterate on the plan together and get a crisp set of requirements that can easily be completed by AI. Sometimes I realize that we built the wrong solution (just like I did when I coded things), but it's much easily to start over and quickly build an alternative solution. 3. I'm usually working on 2-3 (or more) things at the same time. I'm getting bottlenecked on the number of things I can practically do at the same time, and the context switching tax sometimes outweighs the benefits. Even more reason why I need to automate more of the workflow - a step like rebasing a PR might only take a couple minutes, but it forces a context switch. I'm trying to break work down more to maximize the number of things that AI can do in one shot. My goal is to have a day where I create 20 PRs.

Many who know me won't find this move very surprising, but I find it extremely exciting and frightening at the same time. ROI focuses on providing IT, managed, and cybersecurity services to businesses with an interest in the financial industry. Our purpose is to improve digital and cybersecurity literacy. Getting through the marketing speak, we help you manage your technology like email, computers, networking, etc. and align it with cybersecurity frameworks (rules and regulations that help protect sensitive data) that best fit the customer's needs. I'm thrilled to say that we already have a few customers that are maturing with us. I'm doing the cold calling. It's an odd thrill. The extrovert in me loves it, but the perfectionist in me wants a 100-year-old company with everything figured out behind me. That will never happen. So, we'll keep doing the most important thing first and keep our purpose as our true north.
