The autonomic nervous system controls a number of vital functions of the body - such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestive tract peristalsis, glycemic control, etc. Dysfunction of the ANS can involve any of these functions and can lead to serious medical complications. Sudomotor function is assessed to screen for microcirculation (blood flow) problems and peripheral small fiber neuropathy in high-risk populations - such as diabetic patients. Endothelial function is assessed to detect early stages of vascular complications and cardiac events.

Unfortunately, medical doctors do not generally perform these assessments today because they are time consuming, involve complicated equipment, and require intensive training to conduct & interpret the test results. Show less
