Ben Bunyan posted thisToday marks 5 years since I had my first interview with Enjoy. The journey has been shorter than expected. I would be lying if I said I was not sad that it has come to an end in the way that it has. But, in moments of sadness, I have learned to reflect on the good moments, feel the feelings, and practice gratitude. As I think through my time at Enjoy, I am the most grateful for the people I have had the pleasure to work alongside: Laila, Mandira, Shane, Christopher Ay and Anna, the leaders and mentors who shaped my journey at Enjoy and taught me more than I would have imagined I could have learned. Alan, Bobby, Cheryl, Eric, Gloria, Greta, Keith, Nate, and Samantha, the “squad” who became like a “family”. There is not a group of harder workers who emulate kindness like you. Imran, Chris Daly, Meredith and countless others who started as collaborators and grew into lasting friendships. Meghan, Khyati, Ilona, Matthew and the other former Enjoy team members who remain in touch and invested in me. I am grateful for the 5 years I have had with Enjoy. It provided me a path to grow towards my career goals. And though I arrived abruptly to the destination and the journey was cut short, I am most grateful for the people I have met and the relationships developed along the way. And if you are wondering, yes, I am #opentowork. But, more than that, I am open to learning new skills, facing new challenges, and hopefully working with another team with the heart and fortitude of the one I met at Enjoy. Sandbox VR is a special place to work, and I am grateful for everything I got to be part of there: the mission, the explosive growth, and most of all, the people. I am very excited to share that I’m joining PermitFlow as the People Operations Manager, and I can’t wait to see what we build.

Last week, I traveled to Hong Kong to lead the certification of our Causeway Bay training store and leadership team at Sandbox VR. By establishing certified training stores in-region, we’re expanding training capacity, increasing accessibility, and enabling faster, more consistent franchise expansion. It was a highly successful visit, made possible by strong partnership on the ground. Aiden Tse and Bill Tam were outstanding to work with and demonstrated a strong ability to facilitate learning at Sandbox VR. Both passed their certification with strong results, and I’m excited to see the impact they’ll have as certified training leaders in-region. A huge thanks as well to Trish Davis for her collaboration and partnership in helping make this visit and outcome a success. Grateful to be part of this work and excited to keep building as we continue to scale globally!

Ben Bunyan reacted on thisBen Bunyan reacted on thisMany of you know I’m an Arsenal Football Club fan. Many of you didn’t know that and may soon unfollow me with that revelation. I became a fan after being on the periphery for years thanks to Ben Bunyan’s long-term passion and persistent coaxing. But what really got me invested years ago was an interview with the new (at the time) coach Mikel Arteta. As I did my grad work on leadership, I heard Arteta, at the dawn of his first head coach role, begin to talk about his grand plans of what we Gooners have come to refer to as “the Process.” He discussed team identity and culture, the importance of including and inviting the fans in, and raising the standards of performance. In his seven seasons, he has built a team that is hailed by many (often begrudgingly) as the best team in Europe. It’s been a long road, with delight and heartbreak along the way. Arteta has taken a team from hoping to qualify for European competitions (5th place or better) to a fanbase that demands and expects the highest achievements. While remaining in first place in all four competitions, we just suffered a brutal loss to rivals to cap off a bad run of form. Hope is shaken in the fans (we are fickle) and maybe the team. Herein lies Arteta’s most recent masterpiece. In the quote below (taken from Arsenal.com), Arteta demonstrates his ability to keep and share persoective when others pronounce doom. He reengages the players with the next step, helps them to find the winning mindset, and later in the article, invites the fans to do the same. The Process is still at work. It’s building belief and enthusiasm under the steady hand of Arteta, even as the team takes gut punches along the way. It serves as a wonderful example of what teams can achieve when they focus on strategy, identity, and culture vs quarterly results. #COYG #trusttheprocess

One door closes and another opens… I wrapped up my time at Iron ox/Inevitable in March, just after the three year mark. It was a high variance (the best kind!) learning experience, with plenty of ups and downs. I have faith in those that continue pushing for change in the AgTech space: It’s a fascinating domain and a fun challenge! I’m stoked to be joining GoFundMe, working for another mission-focused company operating at a totally different scale. Excited to learn tons about Donations and help people get help! On to the third week!
