The D2Flex Passthrough Matrix can also be used as an automated failover switch. On Monday's post I discussed how to use "Disable PSIP on no Sync" mode to turnoff output when input signal is lost. While creating that post I realized it has even more flex-ability, it can also be used as an automated failover switch. Here is how to configure this mode: 1. Use the drag and drop functionality on the Transport Streams page to configure the D2Flex as you normally would. 2. Select Disable PSIP on no Sync as the Passthrough Matrix Mode. This is a special mode which will only put the unit in passthrough mode if the selected Sync Source goes away. 3. Set up the passthrough matrix to pass through an alternate source to the output. For example, if you are going IP to ASI you could configure the passthrough matrix to pass a backup source from ASI to ASI. The backup source could even be a file playlist off the drive. Note the PIDs and PSIP information must match the primary feed. 4. Apply the settings. Now if sync loss is detected on the input the D2Flex will go into passthrough mode sending the alternate source to the output. 5. Once sync is detected on the Sync Source the D2Flex will automatically switch back to the normal configuration.
